Take Advantage Of Today's Lack of Quality Pitching With These Two Winning MLB Picks

LA Dodgers

There's one thing that's noticeable in Thursday night's slate of MLB games and that is that there's a lack of quality pitching. Watch as we check tonight's games and provide our MLB Picks Of The Day.

New York Mets vs New York Yankees

Resilience in the Yankees
Despite trading off some big name players on their baseball squad, the New York Yankees (54-53) have held their own and intend on fighting for a post-season berth. There are some people that believe that the Yanks "threw in the towel" when they traded off their veterans, but that is far from the truth as they can still make trades to acquire players.

Manager, Joe Girardi, still believes that his team is good enough right now. From watching New York play in the very competitive Subway Series, they've played with confidence, taking 2 out of the first 3 games and with Bartolo Colon (9-6, 3.58 ERA) pitching for the Mets tonight and the Yankees playing at Yankee Stadium, the Bombers have to feel confident after their 9-5 victory over Steven Matz last night.

Mark Teixeira
What people fail to forget is that Teixeira was having a monstrous season last year until he was injured. Injuries have played a large role in Tex's tenure with the Yankees.

When he has his confidence and is healthy, he can be a big-time star. Yesterday, we saw a glimpse of what Teixeira is capable of as he hit a 3 run home HR off of Steven Matz and that was the key hit (home run) in the Yankees winning the game. Teixeira has had a terrible season, but he's 5 for his last 16 at bats with 1 HR and 4 RBI. I think that yesterday's game is the springboard that will get Mark Teixeira going if he remains healthy.

We're also waiting for Joe Girardi's decision on Alex Rodriguez playing. Arod has destroyed Barolo Colon in his career, hitting over .400 and this could be something that get's Arod going if he get's the chance. That said, I wouldn't count on it as the Yankees are playing the younger guys.

Hit Or Miss
After going on a massive slump, Neil Walker has come back with several multiple hit games. Last night he was 4 for 5 with a home run. Walker is also 14 for his last 30 at-bats with a double, a triple, 2 HR and 6 RBI. The one thing that the Mets will get from Walker that they won't get from Daniel Murphy and that's a great glove in the field. People tend to forget that defense plays a major role in the outcome of games. Look for Walker to keep hitting.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Colorado Rockies

Coors Rules Are in Effect
With a starting pitching matchup of Kenta Maeda (9-7, 3.22 ERA) vs. Tyler Chatwood (10-6, 3.50 ERA), I don't expect the Denver air quality to control this baseball game and if you take the MLB Odds of under 11 (-115) at a sportsbook that offers 11 runs as the total, I think it's a steal. When there are two quality pitchers battling it out at Coors Field, the bettor will still get a double digit total and most of the time, a single-digit outcome.

Yesterday could scare people away as Carlos Gonzalez bashed 2 home runs in a 12-2 victory over the Dodgers, but let's not forget that he's injured. It will be up to guys like Nolan Arenado, who hit a home run yesterday and excels at Coors Field to carry the Rockies on his back. I really like the under here as the Rockies are damaged at the moment and Arenado is hitting just .190 in his last 21 at-bats. He's also 0 for 6 in a short sampling against Kenta Maeda.

As for Maeda, he's allowed just 1 run in 13 innings pitched to the Rockies this season along with holding opposing hitters to a .222 batting average this season. Load up on the under the total and look for an SBR rated A+ sportsbook to get the total of 11 and not 10.5 as you MLB Pick.
