Braves vs Rockies MLB Odds

We've been undefeated in the last 3 days, capped off by a 3 unit win with the New York Yankees yesterday. Let's keep the momentum rolling today as there a ton of suspect pitchers and a lot of high betting totals as we provide our MLB Picks of the Day.

Minnesota Twins vs Boston Red Sox
Another High Scoring Affair? Normally, I would say yes after the Red Sox 11-7 victory over the very formidable San Francisco Giants, but I'm looking to fade that thought and push aside the powerful offense that Boston brings to the table as knuckleballer, Steven Wright (11-5, 2.78 ERA), get's the start for the Sox and he's been holding opposing teams down in the run department.

Let's also not forget that Minnesota (35-59) is a terrible baseball team. In order for the total to reach 10, Minnesota would have to bring something to the table and against Wright, I don't think that they're capable of doing so.

The Next Tim Wakefield
It's been told that Wakefield has helped Wright enhance his knuckleball and it seem's to have worked. While it is true that Wright is receiving a ton of run support, the knuckleball has enabled him to provide a ton of innings for Boston and he doesn't allow the opposition to have huge innings against him as the knuckleball is unpredictable.

I'm leaning towards the under in this game despite the support that Wright will get in the form of Mookie Betts (18 HR, 60 RBI, 16 SB, .302 BA), David Ortiz (23 HR, 75 RBI, .326), Xander Bogaerts (11 HR, 59 RBI, .319), and Jackie Bradley Jr. (14 HR, 55 RBI, .295).

This is an explosive Red Sox squad, but I don't think off of one big effort on Wednesday, the betting total should be bumped up to this extent and I have faith in Steven Wright's ability to shut down or keep the Twinkies in check. Take the under with faith as your MLB pick, as we've been very hot lately.

Atlanta Braves vs Colorado Rockies
Coors Field Rules Aren't In Effect. Everyone who reads my pieces know my betting style when it comes to Coors Field. Normally, I don't let the betting total affect me no matter how high it is if the starting pitching is suspect as I think that the players on the Rockies are usually a product of Coors Field (their numbers).

In a starting pitching matchup of Mike Foltynewicz (3-3, 3.70 ERA) vs. Chad Bettis (7-6, 5.55 ERA), this is slightly above average pitching quality despite Bettis' enormous earned run average. Where "Folty" is concerned, he's been rather good and on a poor Atlanta Braves team with a very weak offense, this is a bit surprising. The Braves mere presence in this game and a total of 12 screams under the total.

Mike Foltynewicz
If we take a look at Foltynewicz, he's shut down the opposition quite effectively. In his last 2 starts, he's pitched 14 innings and allowed a total of 3 earned runs on 9 hits. I know that Colorado possesses some strong hitters in Cargo and Nolan Arenado, but I look for this game to be a huge under as the total on MLB odds is simply too high and just listed in accordance with the stadium and air pressure in the local Denver area.

We take it a step further and Foltynewicz has had 9 out of 10 quality outings in his last 10 appearances. We can also take a quick peek at Chad Bettis and even though he's been awful at Coors Field (6.09 ERA), he's allowed 5 earned runs in his last 2 starts; both lasting 6 2/3 innings apiece. Runs will be scored, but not 12 or 13 and much less.
