MLB Betting Picks - NLCS Game 6 - Dodgers vs Cubs

Clayton Kershaw Wipes Sweat Off Brow

The Cubs offense is starting to click on all cylinders. Now, the Cubbies have a chance to put themselves into the World Series but it won't be so easy as they face the best pitcher in baseball. Here's our MLB Pick.

According to 5Dimes Sportsbook, the Los Angeles Dodgers are the -129 betting favorite on the road and the total for this game is listed at 6.5 runs. The Dodgers are the favorites due in part to the dominance of Clayton Kershaw and he will be heavily tested by a very formidable Chicago Cubs offense.

As usual, in games of elimination, the team that's facing elimination will have every pitcher and all players available to attempt to extend the series. That said, Kershaw is the best in the business and if he faces any trouble, he'll be allowed to work out of the jam, but not for too long.

Kyle Hendricks

While the MLB odds and bettors alike are focused on the excellence of Clayton Kershaw, the Los Angeles Dodgers will have to face a pitcher with "ace-like stuff" in Cubs starting pitcher, Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks was beaten by Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers on October 16th, 1-0, but he's been almost as dominant as Clayton Kershaw and he has a much better offense to support him, led by Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant.

When he last faced the Dodgers, Hendricks pitch count got too high too high too early due to 4 walks, but that didn't stop him from holding the Dodgers offense to 1 run on 3 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

In the regular season, Hendricks was fairly dominant as he sported a 16-8 record with a 2.13 ERA. If he had gotten a little more run support during the regular season, Hendricks could've been a 20 win pitcher. He also held the opposition to a mere .207 batting average. I expect Hendricks to pitch well and he has a fine Cubs bullpen to back him up. The key to this game will be "Can the Cubs offense have any kind of success against Clayton Kershaw?"

Can Addison Russell Go Deep For a 3rd Straight Game?

Getting hot at the right time is what the MLB Post-Season is all about. Daniel Murphy did it last season and Addison Russell has stepped up in the last 2 games and has changed the complexion of this series this season.

In games 4 and 5 combined, Russell is 5 for 10 with 4 runs, 2 HR and 4 RBI's. This is a player that accrued 21 HR and 95 RBI's in the regular season and he's definitely a player to keep an eye on as he's full of confidence. Facing Clayton Kershaw will be the big test, but Russell has proven that he can come up big in the big spot as the Chicago Cubs offense has scored a combined 18 runs in their last 2 games.

We can't forget about the projected NL MVP in Kris Bryant, but in this series, Anthony Rizzo has been one of the go to guys where offense is concerned. Rizzo, like Russell, is 5 for 10 in his last 2 games with 1 HR and 4 RBI's. Rizzo definitely has the ability to change the complexion of any game with one swing of the bat and one or two runs could be the difference in this ball game.

In the end, good pitching wins out and although the Chicago Cubs are the far superior team, Clayton Kershaw is possibly the best pitcher in his generation and the odds makers listed the Dodgers as the favorites for good reason. Take the Dodgers as they extend this series to a game 7.
