MLB Betting: Expect The Rockies To Complete The Sweep At Coors Field

Colorado Rockies

The LA Dodgers and Colorado Rockies complete their early week, 3-game set with this 8:40 ET start at Coors Field. The first 2 games have been all Colorado join us as we find the MLB pick this time.

Los Angeles Dodgers (Maeda) (-132) vs. Colorado Rockies (Chatwood)
Tonight, I look for the Rockies to complete the sweep, maintain the momentum of the hottest team in MLB on their strong home field with their best starter taking the mound.

Even before the San Francisco Giants went on their current 4-13 slide, the LA Dodgers were making their move against San Fran with an 18-8 run. But, the Dodgers are only 8-8 recently, including their 2 losses on this field this week. As well as they hit during that 18-8 run, they still have an offense that is inferior to the current form of the Rockies in this contest. What they do have is first year starter, Maeda, who has been a pleasant addition to the starting staff. For the year, Maeda is 9-7 with a 3.23 ERA. The work has been equally good on the road, where he is 6-2 posting a 3.29 ERA. Pitchers normally struggle in their first start from this mound. But, in his first start at Coors Field, Maeda lasted 6 1/3 IP allowing only 3 hits and no runs. Tonight, however, he will be facing the hottest team in baseball with their hottest starter on the mound.

As improbable as it seems, the Rockies have gone 14-5 since the All Star Break on an 11-2 run. They were part of our “BUY sign” group that has performed admirably. Colorado has now won 6 consecutive games on this field, which has bookended a 5-2 East Coast road trip at Baltimore and the NY Mets. Now, the Rockies are 54-53, trailing the Wild Card by only 3 games. What is unusual about this run is that it is keyed by the starting pitching. In the last 13 games of their 11-2 recent streak, the starters have gone 10-0 with a 2.00 ERA. I am well aware that today's starter, Chatwood, has the biggest road favoring dichotomy in MLB. Of late, however, he has pitched well in all venues. In his last 2 outings, he pitched 12 IP of one-run ball, in which he has allowed just 4 hits. A strong history against the Dodgers has seen them hit just .171 against Chatwood.

With a favorable, home underdog price, we are eager to follow the momentum of Colorado as the hottest team in the League. I invite you to put the MLB odds in your favor and join me with my MLB pick in the Colorado Rockies tonight.
