Make Some Loot With These Valuable MLB Picks Of The Day

We're going to have a successful day with these MLB Picks as a couple of aces lurk out into the mounds tonight. Read on and let's make some loot!

Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers

Shocking Odds?
I know that Dallas Keuchel is taking the mound for Houston tonight, but the Astros have had a rough start to the season at 5-10. This is a team with tons of talent offensively, but for one reason or another (their pitching), haven't been able to put it together this season thus far.

Keuchel and the Astros will be facing intra-state rivals, the Texas Rangers and the Rangers are the opposite of the Astros. Nobody could've expected Texas to start off the season at 9-6. Not only that, A.J. Griffin (1-0, 3.27) takes the mound and he's from a pushover. For the 5-10 Astros, who are on the road, this will be a tall order and being a -163 betting favorite is a bit extreme.

Keuchel (2-1, 2.18) isn't the problem as he's pitched 3 straight quality starts and is coming off of a 5 hit shutout (in 8 innings) against Miguel Cabrera in the Astros 1-0 victory. One would also not expect the Astros to have trouble offensively as they have Jose Altuve (5 HR, 10 RBI, .412 OBP%) and Tyler White (5 HR, 12 RBI, .340 BA). I didn't even mention Carlos Correa.

This team is the classic underachiever, but in my book, good pitching wins out and Keuchel has been near perfect this season.

Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds

Jumping On the Chalk
At this point, I don't see how one can fade Jake Arrieta (3-0, 1.23). Arrieta is attempting to make it back to back NL CY Young Awards and although it's very early in the season, he's well on his way to doing so.

Arrieta has the luxury of being on the odds on favorites to win the World Series, the Chicago Cubs. Chicago is currently 11-4 and 7-2 on the road.

Dexter Fowler
Although Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo were expected to lead the Cubs offensively, Fowler has been a flatout beast at the top of the lineup with 3 HR, 10 RBI, a .392 BA and 36 total bases. He leads the Cubbies in runs 11 (11) and hits (20) and nobody even comes closes. It remains to be seen if he can keep up this pace, but he appears to be the real deal and a guaranteed early vote for an All-Star. (Let's not get ahead of ourselves)

Tonight, the Cubbies face a respectable Cincinnati Reds team that does possess some offensive threats in Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, and Brandon Phillips (1 HR, 6 RBI, .347 BA). Do to their pitching, I think the Reds are an average team at best, They're coming off of two straight strong efforts against the Colorado Rockies. The problem for Cincy here is that Arrieta has been unstoppable and until he slows down, the bettor can't fade him at any price on the MLB odds boards.
