The postseason is right around the corner and wins are becoming more and more crucial. For the Houston Astros, today is a must win game. Our expert capper provides his free MLB Pick.

As the postseason approaches many scenarios are becoming evident in both the American and National League. One team still in the hunt in the American League is the Houston Astros and today they look to pick up a crucial win as they host Los Angeles Angels. Will the Astros take another step towards the playoffs?

Los Angeles Angels
Jhoulys Chacin gets the start for Los Angeles and comes in with a 5.29 ERA and 1.50 whip but got crushed for six earned runs in six innings versus the Astros this season. In that one game versus Houston, he did not pitch well but recently he has been decent allowing just two earned runs in his last two starts versus Seattle and Texas. Although he has been used a lot out of the pen this will be his 21st start this season and though he has struggled at times he has also been really sharp on occasion. In four out of his last 10 starts versus the Yankees, Tigers, Mariners, and Rangers, all good hitting teams, he allowed just two total earned runs in just over 20 innings of work. With a career 4.00, ERA and 1.36 whip the 28-year-old right-hander have the ability to come in and give Los Angeles a shot at winning this game. Value wise I think getting him on the plus money is the way to go along with the fact Los Angeles has the type of line up that will battle at the plate ranking first in the least amount of strikeouts per game.

Houston Astros
Brad Peacock takes the mound for Houston and comes in with a 2.86 ERA and 1.05 whip in eight appearances this season. Despite his low ERA, we are still talking about a guy with a 4.54 career ERA and 1.43 whip so for him to be this big of a favorite I think is a bit much in my opinion and once again puts value on backing Los Angeles. Like Chacin, he has pitched pretty well recently allowing just three earned runs in his last two starts off of six hits in just over 11 innings of work. However, this will only be his fourth start of the season and he has given up three home runs his last two games. Although Houston has found a way to win recently winning six of their last eight games they are not setting the world on fire offensively averaging just around three runs per game in their last five contests prior to Friday.

MLB odds
Oddsmakers have come out making Los Angeles more than a +140 underdog across the board. Anything around that area I believe is really good value in a game I think and go either way so for my major league pick I'm going to back the Angels +142 at Heritage sports. Although every game is a must-win for the Astros doesn't mean they will win.
