Free MLB Picks: Red-Hot Pitchers Prompt Jays vs. Tigers Under Bet

Our resident handicapping professional previews Monday’s game between Toronto and Detroit. Go inside to read this revealing article which concludes with a MLB pick.

Matchup of Hot Teams
The Blue Jays and Tigers will meet on Monday for the first time this season. The opening pitch from Comerica Park in Detroit is slated for 7:10 PM ET. Toronto has gone 9-3 versus Detroit since 2014, and those games also went 9-3 over the total. Toronto enters this series having gone 9-2 in their previous eleven games. Detroit is coming off a three game weekend series sweep against the White Sox. Current MLB Odds at Bovada has Detroit as a -116 money line favorite, and the posted total is 9.0.

Starting Pitchers in Superb Form
Toronto will go with southpaw J.A. Happ on the mound for this series opener. Happ has displayed stellar form during his last three starts, posting a 2.21 ERA and terrific 0.89 WHIP in those outings. Happ has seen all six of his road starts go under the total in 2016, and his 2.11 ERA during those appearances are a major reason why.

Michael Fulmer gets the nod for Detroit today. Fulmer has been absolutely lights out in his last three starts, evidenced by a microscopic 0.40 ERA and 0.58 WHIP during those outings.

Jays Underachieving Offense and Solid Pitching
Toronto was the most explosive offensive team in baseball a season ago. They still possess a potent batting order which is capable exploding on any given night. However, at their current pace, Toronto won't come close to producing the gaudy offensive numbers they attained in 2015. They've been especially ineffective on the road in that regard. The Blue Jays have a poor team OBP of .296 and .677 OPS this season during its first 30 road games.

Conversely, the Blue Jays pitching staff has been solid thus far, and particularly so during away games. Toronto pitchers have held opponents to a paltry .287 OBP and .636 OPS when performing on the road.

Recent Pitching and Defense Rules Supreme
Detroit hurlers have held opposing hitters to a .292 OBP and .659 OPS during their last seven games. The Tigers have also gone six straight games without committing an error.

Final Take and Pick
This is an extremely high total with all things being considered. Relative to this current lofty number, one of my Monday MLB Picks will indicate that I like this matchup to be a lower scoring affair.
