The Pac-12 is in action featuring the No. 9 ranked Washington Huskies as they travel to the desert to take on the Arizona Wildcats. Let’s peruse what the college football odds makers are hanging on this one and cash a ticket.
Washington Huskies vs Arizona Wildcats
As of this Tuesday morning writing the college football odds makers are not dealing a line on this one as Arizona's weapon of mash destruction Nick Wilson and junior starting quarterback Anu Solomon will most likely be sidelined according to recent reports. That takes away two potent weapons but the truth be told Solomon's backup, redshirt sophomore Brandon Dawkins, did a serviceable job in his first game which resulted in a 31-21 win over Grambling State and last week put on a show, registering 16-of-21 for 235 yards passing including one touchdown through the air and three on the ground in the Wildcats' 47-28 shootout victory over Hawaii.
On the flipside we have No. 9 ranked and undefeated Washington (3-0) coming off an absolute shredding of little Portland State. Huskie's sophomore quarterback Jake Browning torched the Vikings for four touchdown passes with no picks in a 41-3 thrashing. The Huskies' early season competition has not been exactly stiff with a home slate that has featured dismantling's of Rutgers (48-13), Idaho (59-14) and lastly Portland State (41-3). Offensively Washington has averaged an eye-popping 49.3 points per game and allowed a paltry 10 points per contest.
This will be the sternest test either team has faced but the Huskies are poised to keep rolling. Last season they thoroughly dominated the Wildcats 49-3 as six-point home favorites. This time around they are on the road but the early line, before it was taken down due to the unknown status of both Wilson and Solomon, was Washington -9 ½. I am certain it will head into double digits even if both start, which is highly improbable.
The Wildcats will run until their cleats fall off with JJ Taylor rushing for 168 yards on 18 carries with one TD while quarterback Brandon Dawkins chewed up 118 yards on 15 carries with three TD's last week in their win over the Hawaii. I don't like that approach against a high-octane crew like the Huskies who will zip the ball down the field, move the chains and score points faster than those Wildcats can run the ball. Arizona will be forced to play catch-up and that's not a good place to be against a team like Washington. That's why the Huskies will be included in my week 4 college football picks this Saturday night.
