College Football Pick Against The Spread - South Alabama vs Louisiana-Monroe

South Alabama Jaguars

UL Monroe is 'Fade City' down the stretch in 2016, and with the much more talented South Alabama team in town, expert capper Drew Martin feels that the Jags will easily cover on his NCAAF Pick.

The South Alabama Jaguars won their first Sun Belt game of the season this past weekend. The Jags, who are unbeaten in non-conference play at 3-0, earned a hard-fought 13-10 win against Georgia State last Saturday. They now head to UL Monroe for a Saturday evening Sunbelt matchup against a Monroe team that is reeling. The Warhawks of UL-Monroe are amid a 2-6 campaign and are a prime fade candidate down the stretch.

ULM is without their starting quarterback Garrett Smith, who is out for the season with a knee injury, leaving redshirt freshman Will Collins to run the Warhawks' offense, who struggled vs. Arkansas State last week. Since Collins has taken the reigns, ULM has gotten blown out at New Mexico and against Arkansas State. Talent wise Monroe is at a sizeable disadvantage, especially the skill positions. Matt Viator is in his first year as head coach, since coming over from McNesse State where he had success at the FCS level, but so far with the Warhawks, it has been a rocky road. Losing their starting QB has taken the life out of this program, in the two games without Smith guiding the offense they have yet to top 165 yards passing, in fact, both games combined total less than 300 yards through the air. Moreover, the lack of moving the football through the air was in two games where ULM got down early, not exactly running out the clock type of offense.

In College Football odds, South Alabama has been a tough handicap all year long. This is a team who went into Starkville and knocked off Mississippi State, also beating one of the best teams in the Mountain West Conference in San Diego State. On the negative side, USA did not record their first Sunbelt win until last week. The Jags have had a tough start to the Sunbelt schedule facing the best teams early possibly leaving us with some under the radar value. The schedule lets up in a big way this week vs the worst team in the conference and arguably the lowest rated team in the FBS. Ultimately, the inept offense Warhawk offense is a total dumpster fire and a one-way bet “Fade City” the rest of the year. The only way I can look is on the more talented Jaguars to win by at least two touchdowns as my college football pick.
