It is the Halloween weekend and could this be the weekend where ghosts and goblins come out to wreak havoc? For those betting college football, you best beware what could come your way!
That's right, all seven unbeaten teams that are playing this weekend are on the road. While I certainly do not see all them losing, a few come to mind who could turn into zombies by Sunday morning or at the very least scared to death.
Doug's Record For These Upset Plays (12-12-1 ATS)
Clemson and Baylor in Scary Territory
It has been established this Florida State team is not championship caliber, but its run defense has gotten better and quarterback Deondre Francois continues to improve and will benefit greatly playing before the home crowd. With the Seminoles having gone up from +2.5 to +5, we have additional wiggle room for college football picks with the underdog. At 2-2 in the ACC and still trailing Louisville whom they lost to, Florida State has no burden of expectations and has a real opportunity to pull off a big upset.
Coach Charley Strong's pants are not burnt orange because that is Texas' primarily school color, it is because he's been on the hot seat virtually the entire season. The Longhorns have not shown well again and Strong could be a dead man walking, but he could live to see another day with upset of 6-0 Baylor.
The Bears have a better record than almost anyone could imagine given their offseason. However, there schedule has not been a whos who of college football and in their toughest road assignment at Iowa State, yea, that Iowa State, they had to come from behind in the fourth quarter to win at the end 45-42 as 17.5-point road favorites. Look for a prepared Texas team to be ready.
Oklahoma State Has the Weapons to Knock Off West Virginia
If I am a position coach for Oklahoma State and a booster, player or somebody with the football program told me the Cowboys were home underdogs to West Virginia in Stillwater, that would not sit well with me. Then I find out Oklahoma State has ACTUALLY grown as a home underdog from +1. to +3.5 at sportsbooks everywhere, I would work my players like dogs and make them so sick of hearing nobody respects them, the Cowboys give max effort. While I really like how West Virginia is playing, the Mountaineers are still 2-10 ATS in road games versus teams averaging 450 or more yards a game.
Notre Dame Comes Through
It has been a long year for the Fighting Irish at 2-5. Fans of Notre Dame want Brian Kelly fired and even sports bettors have no patience for them, taking the from -1 to +2.5 at home against Miami-Fl. a club that is 0-3 SU and ATS skid. Coming off a much-needed bye week, look for Notre Dame to show heart and play with passion against Hurricanes squad that is also down in the dumps.
