Will the Pittsburgh Penguins or New Jersey Devils take the
Atlantic - or even a darkhorse? take a look at all the contenders and odds.
Sportsbooks such as Pinnacle Sports have NHL odds for the
division, in which we will focus on the Atlantic Division for hockey
handicapping bets. You can discuss the
NHL season at the SBR
hockey handicapping forum and also be sure to check out SBR odds as the NHL betting season
approaches to look forward to betting matchups in the league's schedule.
(+109) (47-28-7, 101 Points)
Sergei Gonchar and Bill Guerin may be gone, but the Penguins
are favorites to take the Atlantic Division and do some damage for NHL betting
enthusiasts this season. Look for Paul
Martin and Zbynek Michalek to play a role in the hockey betting season, looking
Consol Energy Center will look to incite the Penguins over
the talented Devils team that just edged them in the standings. It could be a close race, as Pinnacle Sports
notes in these NHL odds for the division.
New Jersey Devils (+143) (48-27-7, 103 Points)
Although they took the top spot last year, sportsbooks don't
see them as the top favorite for the division.
The Devils may win some bets on hockey odds for the season behind Marty
Brodeur and Ilya Kovalchuk, the latter making major news this offseason.
Anton Volchenkov and Jason Arnott will hope to add something
to the roster this season. The defensive
powerhouse might "upset" hockey handicappers with a second straight top finish
in the division.
(+761) (41-35-6, 88 Points)
The Flyers came out of nowhere to challenge the Chicago
Blackhawks for the Stanley Cup. However,
can they really contend over the long haul against the Devils and the Penguins
in the division?
Sportsbooks don't think so, at least as far as winning the
division is concerned. Additions such as
Jody Shelley, Matt Walker, Sean O'Donnell, and Andrej Meszaros might help them
in the hockey betting season, but perhaps not for winning the division.
New York Rangers
(+1217) (38-33-11, 87 Points)
The Rangers failed to make the playoffs last season, and it
doesn't look good for anything much higher than a possible birth, and perhaps
that may be too much. They can have
their moments with certain matchups during the season for value hockey odds
bets, but they are +1217 for a reason.
Alexander Frolov, Marty Biron, and Mike Eminger hope to make
small but valuable improvements to the underwhelming Rangers squad.
New York Islanders
(+2533) (34-37-11, 79 Points)
The New York Islanders would make a great NHL bet, if
sportsbooks gave us some odds for who would finish at the bottom of the
pack. The less-than-impressive season
from last year is match by an underwhelming offseason.
Mark Eaton and James Wisniewski have been added, but
everything may be riding on Rick DiPietro to stay healthy and lead the team to
some victories. The youth of the
Islanders may be seen in the NHL betting season, but don't hold your breath on
this team - at least not yet.
