Wednesday night's NHL action gives us five games to choose from, so I have picked four matchups that I feel hold the best value for NHL bettors. Check out my NHL picks for most of tonight's games, as we try to maxamize out our NHL betting payouts.

Lets check out some of tonight's biggest games and cover the NHL picks I find to have the best chance of in cashing for us as the sportsbooks.

Alex Ovechkin

Washington Capitals vs. Florida Panthers

NHL Odds: Panthers -130

The Washington Capitals fell short in overtime in Tampa Bay on Tuesday night but they shouldn’t be such a big underdog in Florida on Wednesday. The Panthers might be more rested but they haven’t been very good lately.

February was very cold to Florida as the Panthers won just two of their nine games. Going further back, they have lost 11 of their last 15 games and because of that, they’ve allowed the Capitals to creep back into the race for the Southeast Division lead.

The Caps play well in this series as they’ve won 10 of the last 14 meetings overall. As a +110 sports betting dog, we’re getting the better team and we’ll take that value.

NHL Picks: Capitals

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

NHL Odds: Over/Under 5.5

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs played on Tuesday night and the result was a 5-4 shootout win for the Pens. With nine goals and another over, that now makes it eight times in the last 10 meetings that these two teams have skated past the total.

As detailed in the full preview of this contest in the NHL section, both teams are playing with plenty of confidence these days. The Pens, led by a red-hot Evgeni Malkin, have won eight straight and have averaged 4.13 goals per game in that span. As for the Leafs, they’ve scored 15 goals in their last five games.

With both teams on a back-to-back, look for another over.

NHL Picks: Over

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Los Angeles Kings

NHL Odds: Over/Under 5

Interim head coach Todd Richards asked his team not to quit on the season and the good news is that they’ve maintained their level of play. Unfortunately for him, that level of play is pure garbage.

The Jackets lost on Tuesday night – again – to extend their newest losing streak to five games. They’ve scored just five goals in those games.

We’re not going to make the mistake of laying juice with the Kings again and they don’t score enough to take the puck line, so take a look at the under.

Kings netminder Jonathan Quick has a career 2.09 GAA against the Blue Jackets and hopefully we see Curtis Sanford in net for the Jackets as he’s posted a 1.09 GAA in two meetings with the Kings this season.  Bet the under.

NHL Picks: Under

New York Rangers vs. Buffalo Sabres

NHL Odds: Rangers -135

The Buffalo Sabres win on Tuesday night in Montreal was about as hollow as the Buffalo Bills 5-2 start this season. The Sabres have still been brutal this season and this is surely no turning point.

Now they have a quick turnaround on a back-to-back and will come back home to host the best team in the Eastern Conference. As sharp as Ryan Miller looked yesterday, he’s still got a 3.27 GAA at home. That’s partially why the Sabres are a subpar 11-14 at home.

The Rangers are one of the best road teams in the NHL 16-7-3 and they should feel comfortable against a Sabres squad that has just five wins in their last 19 games.

NHL Picks: Rangers
