The Devils lost Game 2 of this series at home, but they have been through these playoff wars many more times than Carolina, and they have what it takes to reclaim home ice advantage.
The Carolina Hurricanes evened up this series at 1-1 with a big 2-1 overtime win at New Jersey on Friday, but we look for the more playoff savvy Devils to retake home ice advantage by coming right back with a road win at Carolina tonight.
The Devils have a huge edge in playoff experience here, so they should not be rattled by losing Game 2 at home and should know what it takes to regain the series lead. It certainly helps to have one of the most clutch goaltenders of all time in net in Marty Brodeur, and the fact that he was hurt for much of the year is actually a blessing in disguise, as he is still fresh and in peak form right now.
Brodeur was not to blame for that loss, as both goaltenders had outstanding games. Now while we have a lot of respect for Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward, he is not as accomplished as Brodeur is at this point of his career, so if one of these goalies is to break tonight, Ward is the more likely candidate. Also, the Carolina offense has been rather disappointing at home all year, averaging only 2.80 goals per game in their own building.
Thus, the Canes could be in trouble if Ward has any slip-ups tonight. That said, we will go with the more experienced Devils team at a nice price in a crucial game for them.
