Who in their right mind would have selected Seattle to win that game against the San Francisco 49ers last week? Seattle is not a good team and even with this upset win will not finish the season above 500.
They gained just 77 rushing yards on 23 carries and gained just 165 passing yards completing 18 passes on 23 attempts. What they did do well was force the 49ers out of their game plan and made them throw the ball 46 times. Whenever a team is forced to abandon a game plan dependent on a solid running game it increases the probability that they will lose the game, see the football lines
Seattle may be able to start off the season 2-0, but going on the road to accomplish that is a tough task indeed. Denver, though was outplayed by Jacksonville in all facets of the game. Denver allowed 134 rushing yards on 34 attempts and as a result Jacksonville passed just 21 times completing 16 of them for 165 yards. Seattle can use a similar game plan this week against Denver that they used against the 49ers. If nothing else, it serves to shorten the game with a ball control offensive scheme and will keep Seattle in the game for all four quarters.
Seattle QB Hasselbeck threw his first pass of the season for an interception, but then completed 16 of the next 20. No doubt Seattle has the better field general, better wide receivers, the better defense, and far superior depth so don't be surprised if they do get out of the gate 2-0. The Seattle defense will focus attention on a severe weakness on the Denver offensive line. Right tackle Zane Beadles practiced the entire offseason at left tackle and it is very difficult to move to the right side and be able to change the footwork necessary at that position. That is an area that Seattle will look to focus zone blitzes on in long yardage situations.

For Seattle fans: Your team is a perfect 7-0 ATS when they allow 15 to 21 points over the past three seasons. Many NFL fans were shocked at the 49er loss, but guess what Denver is NOT a good team and I see another Seattle upset alert in the making. There are plenty of teams to start a season 2-0 and fail to make the playoffs. At the end of the day, these are two teams that are not playoff contenders. Period.
Sports betting odds are favoring Seattle this week. 5Dimes have them at +3 and Bodog at +3 1/2 so even though the playoffs won't be in the future with Seattle, football betting odds might be in their favor for you to make some money.
