Two games and two plays for you today in college hoops.

The road to the Final Four continues this evening, as one half of the remaining field square off for a chance to go to New Orleans and compete in one of the greatest weekends in college hoops. There are only two games tonight, and below I have two NCAA basketball picks for you that I feel will cash winners.

Florida vs. Louisville

Both the Gators and the Cardinals are red hot, and are set to face off this afternoon for a chance to the Final Four. Louisville has won six straight games dating back to their conference tournament, and is playing as good as any team. Another team playing as good as anyone is their opponent, the Florida Gators. The Gators have been mauling and slashing their way through the NCAA tournament, as they have won all three of their tournament games by double figures.

Tonight’s game will not be anything short of impressive. Odds makers have opened up the spread very close to even, with the Florida Gators as -1 point favorites. Both of these coaches are no strangers to one another. Billy Donovan was once Rick Pitino’s assistant.

As I mentioned above, Florida has made an impressive run, but I think some of their large victories are the reason why they are one-point favorites here, not because they are the better team. I have been stating throughout the tournament that Florida is a great team and deserved way better then a 7th seed, but the same can be said of Louisville. In tonight’s student versus teacher matchup, I’m siding with the teacher and taking the point with the Cardinals. I’m not even sure if Donovan has ever beaten Pitino. Louisville’s coach is the best coach left in this tournament, and I see that propelling the Cardinals to the Final Four.

My Pick: Cardinals +1

Ohio State vs. Syracuse

For the first time in a while, the Orange are underdogs to their opponent, and tonight, they will have to do everything they can to try and stop Jared Sullinger without their own center, Fab Melo. Sportsbooks have underestimated the Orange a bit throughout this tournament without their center, but I think them being underdogs here is justified against a very solid Ohio State team.

NCAA basketball odds makers have opened up the number in favor of the Buckeyes by the tune of -3. However, a lot of the early action has been placed on the Buckeyes, and yet the line is decreasing. This is a big tell, and I’m taking it into account with my free picks. There was a brief point in time when this line was at +3.5 Syracuse, when it first hit the NCAA basketball betting boards.

Now that the line is dropped, I still think that taking the points with Syracuse is the way to go here. They are without their starting center, but if Rick Pitino is the best coach remaining in this tournament, I think Jim Boeheim is a very, very close second.

Now, we can argue about the game between Bill Self and Roy Williams tomorrow some other time, because those guys are up there with Boeheim and Pitino as well, but for tonight’s game between the Orange and the Buckeyes, I like the zone defense of the Orange to shut down Jared Sullinger and for the Orange to at the very least only lose by one or two points, and cover the spread.

My Pick: Orange +3
