Thursday night’s college basketball betting features a pair of semifinal matchups in New York’s 2K Sports Classic. The Alabama Crimson Tide square off with the Oregon State Beavers in the evening’s opener, while the nightcap has the Purdue Boilermakers meeting the Villanova Wildcats.

Beavers short dogs vs Crimson Tide

Oregon State BasketballOregon State began its season with two straight pointspread covers, cashing as home ‘chalk’ against the Niagra Purple Eagles and New Mexico State Aggies. Sunday’s latest affair saw the Beavers hold off New Mexico State with a 71-62 victory, squeaking by at the windows as an 8 ½-point favorite.

Beavers guard Ahmad Starks piled in 33 points against New Mexico State, playing the contest’s entire 40 minutes. The junior added team-highs of five assists and four steals, while starting mates Angus Brandt and Eric Moreland logged six boards each.

Alabama notched a crushing victory in Sunday’s 80-49 triumph against the West Alabama Tigers in a game that never made it into the hands of the NCAA basketball odds makers. The Crimson Tide continued soaring on their home floor after Friday’s 70-67 win as a six-point favorite against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.

Crimson Tide guard Trevor Releford notched a team-high 18 points against South Dakota State, with he and his mates going 14-for-14 at the foul line. Alabama allowed 50 percent field shooting from the Jackrabbits, including an 8-for-21night beyond the arc.

Oregon State opened as a 2 ½-point underdog at, while first set a ‘total’ of 137. I am adding the Beavers to my NCAA Basketball picks for tonight, looking for them to add another cashed ticket to a 7-1 ATS mark in their last eight neutral-site spots, while Alabama comes in overvalued with a 2-6-1 spread record in its last nine non-conference games.

Wildcats make short trip vs Purdue

Villanova picked up two victories last week, with the latest coming in Sunday’s 80-68 triumph as a 4 ½-point home favorite against the Marshall Thundering Herd. The Wildcats shot 50 percent from the floor, while out-rebounding Marshall, 34-23.

Wildcats guard Ryan Arcidiacono drained 4-of-9 buckets from three-point land, finishing with team-highs of 25 points and six assists. The freshman’s mate JayVaughn Pinkston notched seven boards and two of his squad’s eight steals, while held to a 0-for-3 day on the floor.

Purdue cruised in Sunday’s 83-54 triumph over the Hofstra Pride, cashing as a 17 ½-point home favorite. The Boilermakers got out to a 42-17 halftime lead, holding Hofstra to 34.5 percent field shooting.

Boilermakers guard Anthony Johnson led the bench in scoring with 14 points, while mate Ronnie Johnson notched seven assists and three steals. Purdue bounced back from Friday’s 70-65 loss as 5 ½-point home ‘chalk’ against the Bucknell Bison to open the season, with the Boilermakers falling short despite 45.9 percent field shooting. opened Purdue as a two-point favorite, while the ‘total’ dropped a ‘hook’ from 139 to 138 ½ after early UNDER wagers. I am adding a ticket on Villanova here, taking the points and looking for a hard-fought pointspread cover by Jay Wright’s squad. Purdue should find it challenging to follow up its blowout over Hofstra, with the Boilermakers going 0-5 ATS in their last five spots that followed a victory of more than 20 points.
