Back in the win column
Iowa State snapped a three-game losing streak by picking up a 81-75 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats as 9.5-point home favorites in the NCAA basketball odds last Saturday, while going OVER the betting total for a second consecutive contest.
The Cyclones are one of just four schools nationally with three players averaging at least 15 points per game, with senior forward Melvin Ejim leading the way at 17.9.
Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS when revenging a home loss versus an opponent.
Kansas has shot 54.9 percent from the field during its current six-game winning streak, which includes a 91-69 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs as 14.5-point road favorites last Saturday, while going OVER the betting total for a third consecutive affair.
All five Jayhawks’ starters are averaging 9.0 or more points per game, with true freshman guard Andrew Wiggins leading the way at 15.8 points a contest. He’s coming off a career-high 27-point performance.
College basketball handicappers should have an interest in backing the road underdog in this spot, considering Cyclones senior guard DeAndre Kane was limited in the team’s 77-70 defeat to the Jayhawks as 2.5-point home favorites in the first meeting on Jan. 13—suffering a sprained ankle just two days prior.
Kane has knocked down just 12 of 37 shots from the field since the injury, but he comes in as the only player nationally averaging 16.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists.
Dominant at home
The Jayhawks have compiled a dominating 54-2 SU record in their last 56 conference games at this venue, while they’ve captured their last eight home games in this particular series.
Kansas has also captured wins in 43 of 61 games versus ranked opponents since the start of the 2007-08 campaign.
I’m going to recommend that readers back the Cyclones in their NCAA basketball picks, as they’ve gone 29-15-1 ATS versus conference opponents over the last two-plus seasons.
