There are no Top 25 teams in action on Friday night but
we will have a total of six games available for our watching pleasure courtesy
of the ESPN family of networks. That being the case, we’ve narrowed our three
best picks of the night, which include a couple of road dogs.
Rider Broncs vs. St.
I’m going to add Rider to my college basketball picks on
Friday night as their opponent, St. Peter’s, is struggling big time. The
Peacocks have lost three straight games and five of eight. They’ve only covered
the spread once in their five home games.
Rider tends to dominate this series as they’ve won four
of the last five meetings and covered the spread in nine of the 11 get
togethers. Since they’re a road dog on the NCAA basketball odds, I’ll take
Pick: Rider +1.5
Penguins vs. Oakland Golden Grizzlies
Although the Penguins have five more wins than the
Grizzlies, just one win separates them in conference play. However, the
Penguins have been playing pretty well recently and should take care of
business as a road dog here.
The Penguins have won four of five and play well against
losing teams. They’re 7-1 straight up and 3-1 against the spread when facing
teams under .500. As for the Grizzlies, they’ve dropped four of five – straight
up and against the spread – against winning teams.
State +2.5 at Bookmaker
Manhattan Jaspers vs. Iona Gaels
The tide has shifted a little bit in Manhattan’s season.
After starting 11-2 (and 4-0 in conference play), they are just 3-3 in their
last six. That includes a couple of disappointing losses such as a home loss to
Quinnipiac and a road loss to Fairfield, which was Fairfield’s just fourth win
of the year.
The Gaels are rolling right now with wins in five of six.
They have won 10 of 12 this year as a favorite and eight of 10 in the
conference. As for the Jaspers, they are 1-5 ATS when facing a team with a
Pick: Gaels -2.5
