In what should be one of the more competitive quarter-final games, the Florida State Seminoles take aim at the Miami Hurricanes in hopes of moving on to the semis. Who's side are we taking in this ACC Tournament showdown?

The NCAA basketball odds for this game have been made public, and we find that Florida State is holding the favorite tag at the sportsbooks. The Seminoles are favored by three points, with the total at 128.

Coming in, Florida State has cashed two straight, while Miami is on a solid 6-2-1 ATS streak over their last nine.

The teams split the season series, with each winning their respective home game. It was the Hurricanes though that covered the NCAA Basketball betting spread in both matchups.

Round Three: Fight!

Miami vs. Florida StateFlorida State won the first encounter 64-59 behind what's become the norm: another brilliant defensive performance. The Seminoles held the 'Canes to 39.3 percent shooting and only 5-of-22 from three.

In the rematch, Miami got their revenge with an impressive 78-62 victory at home. The Hurricanes were much more efficient offensively, shooting 48.9 percent overall and 45.0 percent from three. Kenny Kadji, Durand Scott, Shane Larkin and Trey McKinney Jones all scored in double figures for the victors.

That win also came without starting center Reggie Johnson in the mix and his presence should only boost the Hurricanes' interior. Johnson and Kadji need to be tough inside against Bernard James and the Seminoles.

I talked about the Hurricanes' experience yesterday. They have veteran leaders at each position on the court and that kind of know-how is so very important when tournament time arrives.

It's especially important when matching up with a team as physical and disciplined as Florida State. The Seminoles are going to make you work for each and every point you score, meaning the Hurricanes can't back down and must match their toughness.

They've certainly done so here lately. The 'Canes have allowed just 61.2 PPG over their last five and are holding teams to 28.3 percent shooting from three – that's key as the Seminoles like to shoot the long ball.

Who handles the pressure best?

So, with a spot in the last four up for grabs and bragging rights within the state of Florida also for the taking, which of these ACC programs gets it done?

As long as they can avoid getting off to such a slow start once again, I like the chances of Miami bringing this one down to the wire, with a straight up victory certainly within reach too.

The 'Canes just cashed for me and I'm going right back to them. Few teams are as good as Florida State defensively, but Miami has been even better in that regard over the last couple of weeks – they held Georgia Tech to 36 freaking points yesterday – and I think they'll have the added urgency in their game considering they're still hopeful of making the Big Dance.

It's sure to be a dandy tonight. I'm adding the Hurricanes (7-5-1 ATS away from home this season) to cash as one of my sports picks of the day.
