There's hardwood action galore Wednesday night with 37 lined games on the collegiate level 11 NBA games on the slate, including Kobe and the LA Lakers visiting the Toronto Raptors.
There is a veritable plethora of games on the college basketball schedule tonight. From the Big East to the Big 12, the Big Ten to the Pac 10 and everywhere in between, it's "Hoops Heaven" for CBB fans.
Let's start today's preview with a few teams that are on my FU Top Ten. The Syracuse Orangemen, or Orange, or whatever they're called these days, host West Virginia tonight. Jim Boeheim's team is 17-5 SU but just 8-10 ATS. I swear I was on all 10 of the losses (or so it seems). Syracuse is favored by 2; I hope Bob Huggin's team kicks their ass by 20.
UCLA and USC resume their crosstown rivalry at storied Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins are favored by nine and could easily cover. They could also blow a second half lead and lose. UCLA has cost me plenty this year but USC hasn't been all that kind to me either. So I'm neutral but I have a hunch Ben Howland's team will get it done. Then again, "Fade Alert!"
Notre Dame is favored by 2½ at Cincinnati. If you can tell me which Notre Dame team is going to show up, I'll tell you which side to play. Just when I start to believe in the Fighting Irish, they start burning my money faster than my first ex-wife.
Now a couple of games I like (more possible Fade Alerts): Although I swore to stay away from the Big Ten for the rest of the season, I love Minnesota +8 against Michigan State. The Gophers are 18-3 SU and 10-6 ATS this season and 4-2 ATS in their last six. The Spartans are 3-6 against the number at home.
In one of my previous blogs, I wrote about my love affair with Oklahoma and nothing has changed...except I think 12 points is too much for the Sooners to be laying. Texas A&M lost by six in there first meeting and I could see something similar tonight.
My other "pick to click" is Oklahoma State and Texas Tech Over 165. Both teams have trended Over this season. The Cowboys are 4-1 to the high side in their last five games while the Red Raiders are 4-1 on the road to the Over. The total is a lofty 165, however, look at it this way: Subtract the 100 and you've got the probable total line for a Big 12 football game between these two schools.
One quick NBA note. The Lakers are going to run the Raptors out of Toronto. And don't be surprised if LeBron puts up 50 tonight for the Cavaliers against the Knicks.
