Can Vanderbilt return the favor tonight when they host
Florida? Look inside for our college basketball pick and sportsbook odds. Both
the Gators and Commodores are coming off road losses ahead of this SEC
Florida took a three-game winning streak into Georgia, only
to get smacked around by the Bulldogs. The Gators came in as seven-point
favorites but lost 62-76.
Normally known for their offensive prowess, Billy Donovan's
crew was held to 36.7 percent shooting and made only five of their 23
three-pointers. In spite of losing, Bradley Beal went for 19 points and 12
rebounds in a team-high 37 minutes of work.
Key Conference Win Up For Grabs
The Commodores are reeling after losing a close one to the
Wildcats the other day. Make it two times this season Vandy has given
Kentucky a tough run.
Up at the half, the Commodores saw the game slip away late, with
Kentucky's Anthony Davis taking matters into his own hands. He dominated
Vanderbilt for 28 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks.
For Vandy, four different players had at least 11 points,
but generally speaking they couldn't hang with the Wildcats on the glass. John
Jenkins also struggled, hitting only 6-of-18 from the floor, though he hid nail
Tonight, the Commodores hold the favorites tag on the NCAA
basketball odds board, despite losing to the Gators earlier in the year.
The first meeting saw Florida win out 73-65 on their own
floor. The Gators survived a combined 40 points from Jenkins and Jeffery
Taylor, connecting on 11 three-pointers of their own and missing only one of
their 17 free throws. Florida also had more rebounds and less turnovers in the
Kenny Boynton logged a team-high 18 points, while Beal,
Erving Walker and Mike Rosario all hit double figures too.
There's going to be a lot of explosive scorers on the court
tonight. That's why I'm feeling drawn into a play on the total rather than the betting spread.
Rolling With OVER
Not a lot of teams in the country have as talented of a
backcourt as do Florida. With Boynton, Beal and Walker averaging close to 45
PPG between them, Vanderbilt's certainly going to have to hit some open shots
to hang around in this one.
Luckily they are shooting the ball well. Over their last
five, the Commodores are shooting 42.7 percent from three, while the Gators
have been more effective overall with a 45.8 percent FG mark. This season the
two teams are averaging a combined 150.6 points per contest.
I think we see both teams getting into the 70s tonight and
as a result I feel the OVER represents good value for us in our NCAA basketball picks.
