Texas Longhorns and Kansas Jayhawks will duke it out tonight for the title of this years Big Twelve Tournament Champion.
There have been
some absolutely amazing results in some of the major conference tournaments
this year, but when the dust finally settled in the Big XII, there were only
the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds left standing. The Texas Longhorns are going to look
to make a huge statement on Saturday night in Kansas City, when they take on
the Kansas Jayhawks in the Big 12 Championship Game betting battle.
Jayhawks Need to Settle the Score
Head Coach Bill
Self will inevitably say all of the right things about this game. His team
needs to stay focused because it needs to win a conference title to bring that
back to Lawrence and that it'll be nice to potentially earn that No. 1 seed in
the NCAA Tournament.
We know better,
Sure, it's about
the Big XII title. Sure, it's about the No. 1 seed in March Madness as well.
But when push really comes to shove, this NCAA basketball betting battle is
only about one thing. Payback. And you know what they say payback is...
The Texas Longhorns stopped the
longest home winning streak in the nation earlier this season by coming from
way behind in the second half to post a 74-63 victory. It was a loss that the Kansas Jayhawks never forgot for sure, and you know that this team is eager to prove
that it can beat the Longhorns as well, which would make it so every team that
appeared on the schedule was ultimately beaten.
Big Boys the Ones to Watch
The stars are
really going to be shining in this one. Guards are always important, especially
when you're talking about postseason basketball. However, the men of the hour
in this one won't be guys like Tyshawn Taylor, Tyrel Reed, Josh Selby, and Cory
This is a good old
fashioned slugfest. Enter the paint at your own risk.
For Texas, Jordan
Hamilton is a guard that plays a ton like a point forward. He is averaging 18.6
PPG and 7.7 RPG on the campaign. His counterpart is Tristan Thompson, who is
putting up 13.5 PPG and 8.0 RPG. Thompson picked up 14 points and 13 rebounds
against the Texas A&M Aggies in the romp in the conference semifinals, his
fourth straight game with a double-double.
To counter that,
there are a pair of 6'9" twins that are going to have a thing or two to
say. Marcus Morris is averaging 17.3 PPG and 7.3 RPG, but his twin brother,
Markieff Morris is good for 13.5 PPG and 8.2 RPG as well. These two cannot be
stopped when they really get going, and they are both coming off of 20 point
showings against the Colorado Buffaloes on Friday.
Big XII Championship Pick
We know that the
NCAA basketball betting lines are going to be tight in this one, and odds have
it, the play on the court is going to be awfully tight as well. Since 2006,
these teams have met three times in this illustrious tournament, and Kansas has
won all three. It'll pick up a fourth on Saturday. Too much emotion. Too much
Heck, Kansas might
even remember that there is that top seed on the line as well.
Go with the
Jayhawks, and Rock Chalk in the Big XII Championship Game!
