The Spurs have hit a valley of late while the Jazz are still smarting from their loss in the Western Conference Finals to San Antonio last year. Back the Jazz as home favorites.
Our Monday night NBA selection is on the Utah Jazz minus the points at home over the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs have hit the skids, and have defeated just one winning team in their last nine tries. Their latest loss was at home to the New Orleans Hornets, and Chris Paul led a second-half blitz of the Spurs en route to a 24-point whitewash. Now, the Spurs have to enter another "hornets nest," and this time it is in the form of the EnergySolutions Arena, home of the Utah Jazz.
Last season, the Spurs crushed Utah four games to one in the Western Conference Finals, and rest assured there is nothing Deron Williams & Co. want more than to avenge that series loss here at home tonight. The Spurs are hurting offensively, and will be without Brent Barry tonight as he recovers from a leg injury suffered in Miami last week.
For technical support, consider that .600 (or better) road dogs of +8 or fewer points are a dismal 19-54 ATS since 1990 vs. .555 (or better) opponents off a SU win, provided our road dog is off exactly one loss, and it came at home as a favorite. Take the Jazz.
Free Pick: Jazz -2 (-110)
