It wasn’t pretty on Monday night as the Capitals were shut out by one of the worst teams in the NHL and a mid-day decision to play hampered our “bet against the Suns without Steve Nash” theory.

Parlay Record: 0-3 (-300)

Overall Record: 5-4 (-220)

Nonetheless, we don’t live in the past. On Tuesday, we’re focusing on the hardwood for our three-team parlay. May the winners be ours.

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Indiana Pacers

Pinnacle Sports Betting Line: Cavaliers +157, Pacers -174

Total: 199.5

The Cleveland Cavaliers clearly haven’t been the same team without LeBron James this year and now it’s really starting to show. The Cavs have lost four of five and their biggest problem has been finding a new identity as to what type of team they are.

On Tuesday, the Indiana Pacers will try to keep them searching.

The Pacers should be confident in tonight’s game as they won outright in Miami last night as nine-point underdog. Beating what many consider to be the best in the East is going to allow them to carry some momentum into Tuesday’s game. But momentum has been with them recently as they have covered the spread in three straight games and four of six.

The Pacers have won 14 of their last 18 games when at home and favored between 3.5 to six points. They are just 6-6 overall and when breaking down the numbers and while there aren’t a lot of positive stats you can extract from two mediocre teams, one key number is that the Pacers are 2-0 so far this year in the second game of their back-to-backs.

Indiana is the better team in this matchup and with home court advantage and the Cavs slumping right now, they’ll get a win on Tuesday night.

Free NBA Pick: Pacers -174

Connecticut Huskies @ Michigan State Spartans

Pinnacle Sports Betting Line: Connecticut +5, Michigan State -5

Total: 140.5

The Connecticut Huskies and Michigan State Spartans will square off in the Maui Invitational tonight with the winning going to the tournament’s title game. The way both teams played in their most recent contest, they might think their trip to Hawaii was a vacation.

The Spartans needed a big second half run to hold off Chaminade last night while the Huskies were also in a dogfight, and barely won 83-79 over Wichita State.

On Tuesday, both teams will take the contest a little more seriously as it will serve as a litmus test in the early part of the season.

When you boil it down, the Spartans look to have the better squad. In the early going, the Huskies have been extremely reliant on junior guard Kemba Walker, who is averaging 30.3 points per game. He scored 42 against Vermont and 31 against Wichita State. The Spartans are going to make sure that he’s not the guy that beats them tonight.

On the flip side, the Spartans are a team with plenty of depth and plenty of options. Their star, Kalin Lucas, has looked strong including a career-high 28 against Chaminade last night. Korie Lucious, Draymond Green, Durrell Summers and  Delvin Roe can all contribute big-time if necessary, which gives the Spartans far more options to work with in this matchup.

The Spartans are the more complete team and they’ll slow Walker just enough to get the win and cover.

Oklahoma Sooners @ Virginia Cavaliers

Pinnacle Sports Betting Line: Oklahoma -1.5, Virginia +1.5

Total: 139

The Virginia Cavaliers started the season with two wins but have been absolutely abysmal in their last two contests, which means they are a bet-against on Tuesday.

The Cavaliers started the year with wins over Williams & Mary, and USC Upstate, but when they started playing real competition they weren’t even close.

Virginia lost 81-60 to Stanford on Thursday and then followed that up with a 106-63 loss to Washington on Monday night. Now they’ll have to bounce back against a Sooners team that has been competitive.

The Sooners are 3-1 on the year with their lone loss coming last night to Kentucky. They were a 13.5-point underdog, so if there is one positive that can be reaped from their 76-64 loss on Monday it’s that they covered the spread and played a bit better than the odds makers thought they would.

Oklahoma is averaging 73.5 points per game and that average might go up on Tuesday since the Cavaliers let Washington shoot 58% from the floor last night. The Sooners defense struggled with Kentucky but the task is much easier tonight.

With a small spread on a neutral court, bet the Sooners to control this contest from start to finish.
