The Nets (23-50) travel across the Hudson River and face the Knicks (36-38). New York has had a tough month, going 6-12 and are looking to close it out with a two game winning streak.
In their last game, the New York Knicks were taken to overtime on a Jason Richardson 3- pointer in the final seconds of Monday night's game. The Knicks defeated the Orlando Magic in the overtime session and came away with a 113-106 victory. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 39 points and 10 rebounds. Amare Stoudemire added 20 points and 9 rebounds. The Knicks have been having problems with the lower level teams and will be looking to change that luck against the New Jersey Nets.

In the Nets last game, they were defeated by the Houston Rockets, 112-87. The Nets have played without star point guard Deron Williams who has a strained flexor tendon (day to day-) and it has shown. The Nets were defeated for the 3rd consecutive time and just couldn't match the offensive firepower of the Rockets. Leading the Nets was Brook Lopez with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Jordan Farmar chipped in with 12 points and 7 assists but it wasn't enough. Now the Nets play in Madison Square Garden where strange things have happened this season. The Nets are hoping that the Knicks continue their struggles ways against the NBA's bottom feeders.

"March" on to April

March hasn't been very favorable to the New York Knicks and they're hoping to have a better April. The Knicks have a record of just 6-12 in the month of March and recently had a 6 game losing streak. The Knicks have lost to the likes of Charlotte, Detroit, Milwaukee, Indiana, and the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers within the month of March. On Wednesday they're facing another team that they should easily dispose of but will the losing pattern continue?

MVP needs chemistry

Forward Amare Stoudemire has been an MVP caliber player all season for the Knicks. New York got more than than they had bargained for. Stoudemire's averaging 25.5 points and 8.4 rebounds on the season. He's had a tough time lately. Some of it, I attribute to lack of team depth and chemistry. The Knicks are only 8-12 since the trade for Carmelo Anthony. The trade basically depleted their roster. Carmelo Anthony will be worth it in the long run but at this moment, it could affect a player like Amare, whose been consistently delivering throughout the season. Lately, Amare has been delivering less. Stoudemire has scored under 20 points in 3 out of his last 5 games. In the last 5 games, Stoudemire is averaging 18.2 points and in his last 4 games, Amare is shooting just 26 of 63 from the field. I think that the overtime win over the Orlando Magic will give the Knicks and Amare Stoudemire some of their confidence back.

Carmelo Anthony "straightout baller"

Carmelo has been living large and in charge lately. He's been earning the large sum of money that the Knicks paid for his services. His presence has affected the Knicks chemistry but they'll have to work on acquiring players in the offseason. In the meanwhile, Anthony has been on fire lately. In his last 2 games, Melo lit the opponents up for 37.5 points per game on 50% shooting from the field. While Stoudemire has dropped off slightly, the Meloman has taken control of the team on a game to game basis. In his last 6 games, Anthony has averaged 28.1 points and has shot 51 of 59 from the charity stripe. Caremlo has managed to get to the line often and has shot fairly well from the field. Look for Melo to feast off of the lowly New Jersey Nets.

" I Love NY"

New York and Madison Square Garden has been a great team and place for star center Brook Lopez to play at and against. Lopez has averaged 20.4 points per game in 5 appearances at MSG. Brook has also scored a season high 36 points against the Knicks at MSG in November. On the season Brook Lopez is averaging a career high 19.7 points per game. Lopez is soft for a center but the Knicks don't have much size and they shouldn't pose much of a threat against him on the defensive end. Look for Lopez to continue playing well in America's most famous arena.

"Farmar better than expected"

Guard Jordan Farmar has been an adequate replacement for Deron Williams while he's been out of action. Farmar has scored in double figures in 5 out of his last 6 games. In these 6 games, Jordan Farmar has averaged 11 points and 10.3 assists per game. In his last 3 games Farmar has been on target from beyond the arc at 8 for 13. I'm expected similar results from Jordan Farmar if he's allowed the playing time.

Head to Head

  • Under is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings
  • Nets are 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings

What to Expect

The Knicks are an 8 point favorite on the NBA odds board and that's a lot for the way that they've been playing lately. They almost gave up the lead in their last game in the overtime win against the Magic. The Knicks need Amare Stoudemire to get back into the groove. Brook Lopez should have a good game and the Knicks need someone to match it. Carmelo Anthony has been playing lights out in the last 2 games and he's mentioned that it's now or never for the Knicks this season. The Knicks will make a strong late season move. Expect a big performance in this game against a team that they should handle easily. Knicks will cover.
