With the trade news now behind us, the Hornets and Lakers get back to business on the court tonight. Los Angeles wins, but New Orleans gets the cover with the nine points.
It’s been a crazy week for the Hornets. First they traded Tyson Chandler to Oklahoma City for three players only to see the deal unravel when Chandler flunked his physical (big toe). So how will he respond as the guy New Orleans didn’t want? How will his teammates, like David West react knowing that ownership was willing to blow-up the team for financial reasons? These may seem like trivial matters but file them under “intangibles.”
Chandler is still hurt (toe and ankle injury) and wouldn’t have played either way. So we’ll focus on the guys who are playing. Like Chris Paul and the aforementioned West.
They were part of a Hornets team that dismantled Orlando in their last outing scoring 117 points. That follows a recent pattern with New Orleans on a 7-2 Over streak in their last nine games and a 7-2-1 Over mark in their last 10 road games.
The Lakers have won 13 of the last 15, but are 1-3 ATS vs. the Hornets in their last three meetings. The underdog in this series is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings.
I look for a Lakers win, but a Hornets cover. If you're a Lakers fan and not a gambler, that’s a trade you’ll gladly make.
Free Pick: Hornets +9 (-110)
