John Ryan shares his favorite NBA picks for tonight's matchups.
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Here we have a 5 star graded play on the
Philadelphia 76ers as they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in NBA action set to
start at 7:00 PM ET.
This game will be televised by NBA TV. The 76ers
Atlantic Division lead is gone and are tied with the Boston Celtics with
identical 27-22 records. The Knicks are 2.5 games behind and in third place in
the division and hold down the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern
Conference. The 76ers are beginning to feel the pressure of a playoff and
division race, but have one of the best coaches in the NBA to successfully
guide them through the rest of the season.
The 76ers scored just 27 second
half points in their loss to a old, tired, and short-handed Spurs team Sunday.
They appeared disjointed throughout the second half, but it was not because of
the Spurs defensive pressure. Games like this are coaching opportunities to
right the ship and get the team playing at an extremely high level in the next
Doug Collins arguably should be a
top contender for Coach of the Year based on his body of work to date with the
talent and depth he has on this 76ers team. All three of these teams will make
the playoffs as ninth place Milwaukee trails the Knicks by 2.5 games, but it is
very important that this young edition of the 76ers keep the division lead in order to have the confidence for a
strong playoff run. Doug Collins is the best coach for this situation and he
will make certain the team is fully prepared to defeat the weaker teams
remaining on their schedule.
That winning run starts tonight
with the Cavaliers, who sport a 17-29 record and 23-23 ATS season record and
are 8-14 and 13-9 ATS in road tilts. The 76ers are 17-10 and 16-11 ATS in home
games this season.
The NBA Betting Line
The NBA betting line for this game will open
with Philadelphia installed as a 9.5 point favorite. Philadelphia’s star
player, Andre Iguodala, is listed as questionable for tonight’s game, but I
feel confident he will be in the game. NBA odds of 9.5 do estimate that is based on him
playing. Should he not play, this one of my NBA picks will be valid as outlined, as the NBA betting line will be adjusted to reflect the loss of Iguodala. The 76ers still have
enough fire power and focus to win this game by double digits without him in the
The simulator shows a high
probability that the 76ers will win this game by 10 or more points. Supporting

winning sports picks spanning the past five seasons. Play on favorites that are solid
teams outscoring their opponents by 3 or more points per game and after a
blowout loss by 15 points or more. Of the 95 winning plays, 52 of them or 55%
covered the spread by seven or more points.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Free NBA pick on the Minnesota Timberwolves as they take on the Memphis Grizzlies
set to start at 8:05 PM ET. Memphis is coming off a most improbable
and very impressive win over the Los Angeles Lakers, but this game is going to
be far more difficult for them to win.
Minnesota sits in the 11th
position of the Western Conference and trail eighth place Houston by three
games. This is a must win game for them and despite the injuries to Rubio and
Pekovic, who is day-to-day with an ankle injury. he will not play tonight, but
could be back later in the week.
The Simulator Projections
The simulator shows a high
probability that Minnesota will lose this play by five or fewer points and that they have an excellent shot at winning this game. Minnesota is a solid 26-11
ATS in road games versus teams who are called for 21 or less fouls per game
over the last two seasons; 21-9 ATS as
an underdog this season; 11-2 ATS in road games after playing a home game this

beaten by the spread by 42 or more points total in their last seven games and
now facing an opponent after going over the total by more than six points in

Memphis has lost five of seven and despite their
impressive win over the Lakers, I fully expect them to revert back to the
hesitant and inconsistent play spanning the past seven games.
My Pick: Take the Minnesota Timberwolves as a 5* Titan Play.
