Without Tracy McGrady and with Yao Ming nursing a cut on his mug, the Rockets will not be able to hang with the Grizzlies tonight when Houston travels to Memphis.
The visiting Rockets opened up as 1-point road chalk with the total set at 196. Houston enters this matchup with the Grizzlies marred in a funk. They’re coming off a 94-82 loss at Detroit back on Dec 23, and have lost six of their last eight overall contests.
[articleBanner]who2beton[/articleBanner]It’s been rough going for Memphis as well as the young Grizz have dropped seven of their last 10 overall and come into tonight’s game losers of three in a row. These Southwest Division rivals have already met twice this season with each club winning on its home court. The Rockets toppled the Grizzlies 105-92 as 10½-point favorites back on December 5, and the Grizzlies upended the Rockets 105-99 as 6½-point home underdogs in November.
The Rockets are a combined 9-16 ATS (36%) on the road vs. sub .500 divisional opponents, while Memphis is a combined 13-13 ATS (50%) at home vs. sub .500 divisional opponents. With the Rockets coming in without Tracy McGrady once again and a scared Yao Ming looking to avoid contact with his face after getting stitches in their last game, look for the young Grizzlies to be very physical and run against the Rockets all night long.
With a depleted offense, the Rockets won’t be able to hang for a full 48 and the Grizzlies will pick up their ninth win in the process.
