An eight TitanBet (SBR rating C) wagering complaint has been reported. A player writes to SBR stating that his wagers were voided under the premise that the price displayed on the website was erroneous. The player disputes the reason, pointing out that a free odds service showed that the stake for his match on Teteks Tetovo -11 over Oktomvri Prilep was placed on odds that were in-market. The player states that TitanBet quoted the following section of its fine-print in response to his inquiries:
Please refer to the following point of our Terms and conditions:
12.4 Gambling is a fast moving environment, odds move rapidly and bets are taken continuously and consequently mistakes do occasionally occur. We do all that we can to avoid this but we cannot accept responsibility for any obvious errors or omissions in respect of the announcing, publishing or marking of prices, the late closing of markets, place terms, handicaps, runners or results despite our every effort to ensure total accuracy. If a bet is accepted in error by us at a p rice or market condition, as indicated above, that is:
* 12.4.1 materially different from those available in the general market
at the time the bet was made; or
* 12.4.2 so obviously incorrect given the relative probability of the
event occurring at the time the bet was made; or
* 12.4.3so obviously incorrect having regard to the nature of the betting
business or the market in question (including if we erroneously accept a bet
after the event in question has commenced (unless it is an in-running bet)),
then such bet shall be void.
-TitanBet Sportsbook
On December 5th, SBR reported on the seventh known instance of TitanBet voiding action where it does not have the best of it. The practice is commonly referred to as a linesmaker falling asleep at the wheel, or failing to update odds so that they become off-market, as opposed to being wrong to begin with.
Players in need of sportsbook assistance are asked to fill out a sportsbook
complaint form. Alternatively, players may reach Sportsbook Review by writing to

SportsInteraction (SBR rating B-) canceled a player's wager on the Wimbledon doubles match Mahut/Clement vs Fleming/Skupski. The winning wager, which he staked €110 on, was voided after the completion of the match. SportsInteraction's position is that there was a clear odds error. At the time of the player's wager, 5Dimes (SBR rating A+) had odds of 1.64 (or -156) on the match. The player's ticket was for 1.83 (or -120).
However, the odds on the match opened at approximately -120, which is what the player wagered. The day before the doubles match, Nicolas Mahut played a marathon match with John Isner which ended up being decided 70-68 in the 5th set. Oddsmakers felt Nicolas' physical endurance after the record-breaking match would be a questionmark that should effect the price of the doubles match, so the market was updated. SportsInteraction failed to react to this odds change.
This is commonly referred to as a 'stale line'. A stale line is a result of a linesmaker failing to update the odds of a particular event, as opposed to a 'bad line' which is a clear and obvious clerical error, such as a reversed pointspread or moneyline. In this case, SportsInteraction cited a bad line rule and voided the winning wager after the match ended. SportsInteraction has canceled bets after the events began before, as was done in this December 06 sportsbook dispute. As the odds the player accepted were in-line with the market at one point, SBR has suggested that SportsInteraction pay all wagers on the stale line. SBR will update this report pending SportsInteraction's decision.

Fernando, who was only in his mid 50s, was best known by players for his years as Lines Director at Hollywood Sportsbook. Fernando was a talented line manager who first gained notoriety for his exceptional ability to set NHL opening odds. He worked with Hollywood for years until the sportsbook was sold to the Sportsbook.com Group in May of 2006. At its peak Hollywood was an A+ sportsbook that, under Fernando, was one of the few sportsbooks to join Pinnacle Sports (SBR rating A+) offering reduced juice. Fernando was a line manager at BetPhoenix at the time of his passing. He reportedly suffered from a heart attack Saturday. We at SBR send our condolences to Fernando's friends and family.

04.08.2008 (11:20 PM CST)Bet1128 (SBR rating C-) voids wagers after lines change in players' favor
SBR received five complaints from Bet1128 players who had valid bets canceled in 2007. Bet1128 has claimed that linesmakers made "an obvious error" when they fail to move the line with the betting market.
Player on 3/13/08: Yesterday I was treated unfairly by
bet1128 (bet1128.com - former Paradisebet). They voided my bets on Chilean League match Palestino vs Huachipato claiming there was a mistake in the odds. This however clearly was not the case. True that at the time I placed these bets their odd for away team was above market average. Their were among the last to keep it that high. But this was caused by general line movement on this game yesterday morning and surely not by oddsmaker's mistake. I placed two bets around 06:30 GMT and they voided them almost three hours later when these bets were indeed in quite a contrast with market average odd. I intervened by sending an e-mail and on live chat service but to no avail. I am not expecting you to waste your time to take up this case with them as I am fully aware they have a history of such practices and the chance to reverse the decision (one bet would be won) is minimal. My main point is that a wider public read this and know what they can expect from this sportsbook.
Player 2: The draw was available at 3.6-3.8 in a few places and Huachipato at 5.5-5.80 in a few places as well. What it happened is that there was a very big move on the odds in that match and they got caught as many other bookmakers. But instead of honour their odds as everyone does they just claim that their odds were wrong and they void all bets. I think this is totally unacceptable and I would like you to make public their decision in your website and review their rating accordingly.
03.11.2008 (06:30 PM CST)LinesMaker (SBR rating C-) and Sports.com (SBR rating D-) refund player's confiscated funds. Management of the Sportsbook.com Group tells SBR the player's funds were taken because he wagered the "free bets" for an extended period without giving the house action. Winning players are advised to use caution at Sportsbook.com Group books.
Player: I've had these two accounts for approximately 18 months and normally play the weekly $10 bets only after I've made a few bets during the week, maybe 40% of the time. I guess that in February, there weren't really any games to my liking so a little bored, I played the free bets and won about $20 each at Sports.com and Linesmaker. I did not use the two accounts to place bets on opposing sides of the free bet and I didn't receive any warnings before the accounts were disabled. Thanks again for your help
03.10.2008 (05:36 PM CST)Sports.com (SBR rating D-) & Linesmaker (SBR rating C-) close player's accounts; confiscate $1,765
The
Sportsbook.com -hosted
sportsbooks are known to give multiple promotions and bonuses over long periods of time only to confiscate funds if the user is deemed to be unprofitable claiming he/she "
took advantage" of an offer or did something "
not in the spirit" of the promotion. This player was told he took part in "
free bet abuse" which is the label given when a player uses two $10 free bets on opposing teams or has simply collected multiple free bet credits at different
Sportsbook.com-hosted brands over an extended period of time. Sales agents tell players during the sign up process that each book is a separate entity, is not affiliated with other brands, and that bonuses and accounts with different Sportsbook.com-hosted brands are allowed. The
Sportsbook.com group's
risk management department audits winning accounts looking for reasons to confiscate the amount of money the player has won through its time with the book. The scam affected many players in 2007 when the operation debited accounts thousands in winnings on
correlated parlays. Sportsbook.com kept player losses from those same wagers.
Linesmaker ownership is expected to reverse the decision of its turnkey provider as it has in the past. SBR has asked both sportsbook brands' decision makers to review the claim.
11.21.2007 (06:24 PM CST)SafariCasino, MayanSports and BetTheGlobe upgraded from F to D. The books' owner reports paying all players with privately held funds due to Futurebet's unwillingness to pay. Futurebet is withholding its licensee's funds while refusing to pay its users. Some Futurebet sportsbooks have closed down while others are attempting to work out deals to move player balances to other sportsbook operations, like
Linesmaker.co.uk (SBR rating D+) has done. SBR expects only Futurebet-owned
SportsbookUSA (SBR rating F) and
new Futurebet partners BetOnUSA (SBR rating D-) &
Oddsmaker (SBR rating D-) players to receive payments from the Futurebet cashier. Players should avoid these scam books which have proven they are not opposed to stealing funds.
11.16.2007 (08:32 PM CST)Ownership for these three Sportsbook.com-hosted books have agreed to make decisions independent of
Sportsbook.com (SBR rating D-) and in a manner that is deemed to be fair to users. Each book has addressed old complaints and states that it is committed to addressing future issues. These sportsbooks offer email service that by-pass the Sportsbook.com customer service center. Sportsbook.com has allowed a long list of player complaints to build. The list includes verified reports of outright theft and cheating on individual bets. SBR will publish a detailed report of offenses once all data is gathered and discussions on remaining issues have concluded. SportsBetting and Linesmaker have been upgraded from D+ to C-, BetUSA from C- to C. Privately owned Sportsbook.com-hosted sportsbooks that would like to clarify their position and address pending issues should
contact SBR.
Note: All sportsbook.com-serviced books rely on the operation for its financial processing. The group was unable to pay some non-U.S. players for over five months earlier in 2007.
11.16.2007 (08:26 PM CST)Linesmaker upgraded from D+ to C-
11.07.2007 (09:49 PM CST)Linesmaker.co.uk (SBR rating D+) tranferring balances to Linesmaker.com (SBR rating D+). Players unable to access their Linesmaker.co.uk balance may contact SBR for assistance
by email or by calling 830-255-4677.
11.03.2007 (11:25 PM CST)The sportsbook's homepage gives users the following message:
"The gaming platform provider for this website is claiming insolvency and is no longer able to provide services". The website also states that player balances will be honored and users must contact the book at
fbrescue@linesmaker.com to make arrangements. The message does not say if balances will be moved to
Sportsbook.com-serviced Linesmaker.com (SBR rating D+) or if players will be given the option for an immediate payout. Other
Futurebet-serviced sportsbook users will not be as fortunate.
Note: Linesmaker.com ownership tells SBR they would not be part of voided
correlated parlay scandal. Any players who believe their LM account was debited due to the Sportsbook.com Group winning parlay confiscations should contact SBR. Linesmaker was not downgraded to D- along with most of the
Sportsbook.com Family.
10.26.2007 (08:56 AM CST)Futurebet on verge of collapse; SportsbookUSA and sister books downgraded to F
More Futurebet Sportsbook brands report that the operation will not pay book owners or their players. Brand owners who ignored Futurebet warnings now realize they have been marketing a scam operation and find themselves with player debt that they cannot pay. Futurebet has not passed earnings, from what has been a very favorable football season for the house, on to sportsbook site owners. Book owners who have been stiffed out of these profits must go into their pocket or stiff the players who managed to win.
Scam planned months in advance?
Futurebet Sportsbook brand owners tell SBR that the turnkey business reached a new low in the early part of 2007. The operation blamed problems on processor theft and stiffed employees in June. Despite the internal probelms sportsbook giant
BetOnUSA (SBR rating D) chose to migrate to
Futurebet just last month. SBR expects BetOnUSA, which briefly owned the World Gaming software source code, to take control of its second sportsbook platform once the many sportsbooks sites close. A paper sale of Futurebet-owned flagship
SportsbookUSA is also possible. The chronic slow-pay book has been quiet while white labels see shrinking player bases and growing debt.
Futurebet-hosted Linesmaker.co.uk (SBR rating D-) to transfer balances to Sportsbook.com-serviced Linesmaker.com (SBR rating D-). Players who reside in countries that are prohibited by the Sportsbook.com Group will receive a check.
Linesmaker.co.uk users should
contact SBR. Futurebet Sportsbooks that have obtained their own processing or will move player balancesto a different book are also asked to contact SBR.

04.21.2006 (02:57 PM CST)Sportingbet Plc returns $24,000 confiscated from client in October 2005. Over the course of a year the player had used multiple Sportingbet Plc sites including PlayersOnly(SBR rating D+), LinesMaker(SBR rating D+), SportFanatik(SBR rating D+), SportingBetUSA(SBR rating D+), Aces(SBR rating D+) and Sportsbook.com(SBR rating D+). The amount confiscated was the sum of what the player had earned in bonuses and won overall from the family of sportsbooks. SBT management originally stated that the player was violating the spirit of the bonus although the company’s client support has maintained that utilizing multiple sportsbooks and incentive offers was acceptable. Other Sportingbet players hope to experience the same success in resolving their issue and recovering their funds. SBR is currently speaking with Sportingbet’s corporate office about these matters.
02.05.2005 (05:28 PM CST)Linesmaker (SBR rating D+) and SilverstarCasino agree to payout first Polish player who filed complaint with SBR. Two other players await payment or a valid explanation of what rules they violated.
02.03.2005 (11:57 PM CST)As reported on 1/26/05, Linesmaker (SBR rating D+) has failed to honor winning wagers, citing a change of policy to not accept players from Poland. SBR has since received other complaints from players located in Poland who report their winnings from Linesmaker’s sister site, SilverstarCasino, were also voided. These players claim to have responded to a generous bonus promotion that was mentioned on a Polish gambling forum. Silverstar has failed to explain to players why they believe it is acceptable to confiscate funds based on location. The following is an email from Silverstar informing the player that he would not be receiving his winnings.
"Dear XXXXX,
I have reviewed your account with Silverstar. Silverstar are fully within their right to close your account as they do not accept Polish customers anymore. While I understand that you have winnings in the account, they will not be sending any of those winnings to you, just your initial deposit, irregardless of whether Polish customers were accepted then, they are not accepted now. To quote from the rules:
"Termination of Agreement: The agreement between SilverStar and the customer may be terminated by the customer at the customer’s request. Or if deemed necessary SilverStar reserves the right to revoke the agreement between the customer and SilverStar."
I apologize for the inconvenience that this may you at, however Silverstar are fully within their rights to do this.
Regards,
Leroy.
CS Supervisor."

01.26.2005 (10:43 AM CST)Linesmaker (SBR rating C-) voids player’s winning wagers after deciding they no longer wish to service players from Poland. The bettor’s account has been closed and his deposit was returned, but before this new policy he had made two wagers resulting in winnings of $354. SBR has confirmed that this player was allowed to sign up as a resident of Poland and that there are not any restrictions listed on the site. SBR expects these winnings to be paid in full and will follow up on this issue.
07.27.2004 (03:19 PM CST)Linesmaker upholds decision to confiscate $18000 parlay win. The book claims the confiscation is justified due to a previous charge back of $135 at a different sportsbook. The player states the $135 was over charged to his credit card by EFS processing; which had previously accepted thousands of dollars in his deposits. EFS also does financial transactions for Linesmaker. Linesmaker’s client service center offered to pay the winnings to the player if he would send the $135 via Western Union, which he did. This offer was voided when Linesmaker ownership cited a previously used dormant account as an additional rule violation. The client closed this old account via Livechat before playing with his new account. SBR warns players of the audit process. EFS auditing many accounts upon payout request.
07.23.2004 (10:38 PM CST)Linesmaker is one of many books operated and managed by the Sportingbet Group; yet SBT attributes this decision to the individual owner/investor of Linesmaker. SBR to speak with Sportingbet top management about this dispute. Ratings for sportsbooks under the Sportingbet PLC name under review pending outcome.
