Dimitrov breaks 5 strings in a huge meltdown loss to Schwartzman

Has that ever happened before in the modern tennis era?

For people who missed it, on five separate occasions his racket gave out on him and cost him points. They were in key situations too, as one of them happened in the 2nd set tiebreak after Dimitrov won a mini break. He also started cramping too, late in the 2nd set. I lost about $300 worth of parlays but I'm not even mad, the gap between these players isn't so much that you can overcome all this unlucky shit.

Yeah that was a bit shameful. I actually thought he retired, which would've voided all my bets. Losing the 2nd set cost him the match though, you aren't going to win a set on clay when cramping.

Dimitrov is an embarrassment to the sport. No way he should ever lose to Schwartzman.

saw it coming and took the over 2nd set
to hedge out of my Dimitrov-based under.

    Schwartzman has improved.
The slow court helped him too.
    He is a little beast.

Dimitrov had the Sydney final earlier in the year under control before melting down too.
Amazingly weird result, squares would have been killed in these finals matches

Diego won't play in Madrid, he's scheduled to play in Aix en Provence Challenger where he'll play against Thiago Monteiro on the first round but it won't be surprising to see him withdrawing from that event.
