    Berdych +5.5 @1.92 vs Djokovic??

Number 1 vs Number 2 ranked player in the ATP Race Ranking. Berdych is playing solid in 2015. I hope for an interesting match. Unfortunately, Tomas always folds against top players.

There aren't many people, if any with a better recent record against the top 4 than Berdych. He is 2-2 against both Federer and Murray in last 4 encounters. Won last meeting with Nadal and won on clay in 2013 against Novak.

He has a crap overall record against Novak but the only ones that have won multiple matches against him in the past few years is Fed and Nadal. Everyone else either never beats him or lucks out 1 time. He also had a crap record against Nadal but it's the same case as Novak, no one ever won multiple matches against him and it's only now that he is losing more regularly. Then against Murray and Federer, he probably has the best record against them out of anyone not in the big 4.

I too often hear people say he has a crap record against big names but it is always backed up by nothing. Berdych and Ferrer have been the only two players in the past 5 years or more that actually won multiple times against the big 4, although Ferrer is still winless against Federer. No one else ever challenges the big 4 on a consistent bases.

In terms of this match coming up, who know? Novak is so dominant in the past few years that the result is often purely dictated by him regardless of what the opponent does.

His record in the big matches is awful. He always gets into the 1/4 and 1/2 finals and loses. Even when he plays great, he just can't get the job done. I remember one big win against Federer at US Open 2012 and against Nadal at the Australian Open this year. Same story against Murray too. The overall H2H record is good, but he lost the two most important matches at the Semifinals of US Open 2012 and Australian Open 2015.

Here are some number I got off a website I use. I only compared Berdych with Ferrer and Wawrinka since they the other two that have challenged the big 4 on a consistent bases. Also Ferrer is known for his consistency while Wawrinka is known to be a big game player so thought it would be good to use them as comparisons.

    Berdych
    F - 14/33 42.4%
    SF - 26/64 40.6%
    QF 56/103 54.4%

    Ferrer
    F - 28/58 48.3%
    SF - 50/91 54.9%
    QF - 81/136 59.6%

    Wawrinka
    F - 9/19 47.4%
    SF - 18/36 50%
    QF - 34/58 58.6%

There ain't much of a difference in their numbers with Berdych being slightly worse of the 3 but Ferrer plays much more of the smaller tournaments where he is the top seed, whereas the other two don't.

(The website I used misses a few games in its database though - ie. Berdych making 33 finals but only winning 26 SF, which doesn't make sense)

EDIT: Don't know how accurate this is as the finals numbers differ to the ATP site.

    Interesting info.
We should compare only Berdych with Wawrinka. As you said, Ferrer plays a lot ATP 250's tournaments, where he goes against the likes of Gil, Lopez, Machado in the semifinals. 54.9 % percentage for David is absurd, his Slam/Masters 1000 SF record will be like 10-15 %? (reaching RG 2013 final and Paris 1000 Final).
Maybe Del Potro will be a better option against Berdych and Wawrinka?

I am not sure how useful the numbers above are though since I think some Challenger events are getting added in since they differ to the official ATP site.

I had a look at Del Potro and his number are insane. Novak in finals is only 67% apparently while Del Potro is 66% but I looked through his matches and majority of his finals are against lowly ranked players and only a few were against the big 4.

7/5 4/6 6/3 ... Berdych covered. Cool match btw and of course typical bending from Tomas in the third set.
