I believe Sharapova can finish 2014 at #1.

Sharapova future is +450 (Singapore). it won't be that cheap if she
handles Woz. .. Serena was ok today, but not thoroughly convincing
vs. Ivanovic. Ivanovic didn't look to great either. I don't know if her
"virus" from a few weeks ago is still there (if it ever was), or if the
weekend comments from Russian Tennis federation and the response
gave were in her head (he called them "the williams brothers", but
she just isn't free flowing out there.. she looks gettable.
Maria is coming off the China Open win.
She's in high quality form. If she can beat Serena she finishes the year at number 1 in the world,
which she hasn't seen since 2012.
    She's gonna bleed determination.
I don't think her opponents have any idea how pumped she is for this chance.
Year end No 1 would be 'incredible' - Sharapova

p.s. the future is somewhat hedgible with the abbreviated draw setting up
for a potential Williams vs. Sharapova battle royale
    . Williams is only +115,
not a bad odd to stuff in your backpocket either.

Here is an explanation of how Maria can be #1 soon.

I'm new here. FYI, Maria Sharapova has lost to Serena 14 times in a row and has not beaten her since 2004! I agree that Serena was not at her best vs. Ivanovic but her powerful serves still got her out of trouble many times. I will not bet against her in this tournament. She has shaken off the injury and is very determined to retain this title as well as ending the year as No.1.

Kvitova had a legit shot at winning the whole thing as well imo.

This, if there is anyone who has a legit chance to take out williams bro, it'd be kvitova.
As mentally strong as Maria is, she just seems to fade away against williams every time play.

having said the above, it'd be fantastic to see someone beat williams bro at a major event.

    but not tonight.
Concerning Maria, her shoulder was bothering her, causing
too many DF's. She needs a long break.

Technically Sharapova can still qualify and then win it all. She needs to straight set Radwanska and then Woz has to straight set Kvitova.

yeah, i have no problem thinking #1 can happen, but I question Woz desire for the match vs Kvitova,
which she doesn't need to advance.. but Kvitova outranks her in standings, so she might give 100%.
I was thinking of taking Kvitova but just can't press the button.

    If I calculated right.
Radwanska wins in straights, then Woz will have to win at least one set to qualify.
Radwanska wins in 3, then Woz can't be smoked to qualify.

sharapova just blew 5-1 lead which included double break & 3 mp and lost the 2nd 7-6
a-rad was matched at 400(+39900) and she now trades at 1.81(-125)

    what a circus
