Doing the Rounds on Twitter in the U.K.

Matt Findley@finderz4 6 hrs6 hours ago Doncaster, England
my pal won this today on @SkyBet and they cancelled his withdrawal and paid him at 20/1 #joke

Is 500/1 for a 7 goal margin of victory likely to be incorrect, surely the price should be higher than 20/1!!!!!

Did they offer any reason for altering the odds?

Looked all over the place and cant find any odds service showing the historical handicap odds for that match.

500/1 does 'seem' to be higher than I would expect given what an obvious mismatch it was. United Youth averaging 4 goals scored per match over the entire 30 game season. And they needed to win this match to give them a chance to clinch the title in this final round.

Other Aussie state league games on today are around the 150/1 to 200/1 for the highest handicaps offered of -5.

But 20/1 seems way more obviously wrong to me on the surface.

If your friend cant sort it out with them he is welcome to submit a complaint form and have SBR try to help: http://www.sportsbookreview.com/sportsbook-complaint/

Their terms and conditions listed are (my highlighting):
As per the Terms of Acceptance above, whilst we strive to ensure complete accuracy in the publishing of odds, we can't accept responsibility for any errors or omissions. Therefore we reserve the right to correct obvious errors and settle bets at the correct odds or void bets if prices are unavailable.

One benefit of requiring bookies doing business in the UK need a UK licence is that the bets are transacted under UK laws (for Skybet England and Wales) which makes the bet a legal contract testable in court.

The legal question is whether the odds were an error, and whether this is obvious. When odds get this kind of extreme it is much harder to test each of these - 100/1, 200/1, 500/1 etc.
