    Handicapping SOCCER

Premier League selection on 1st January

    vs.

    Aston Villa vs. Swansea City
Game Date: 2.1.2012, 10:00 am ET
    Line:
    Asian Handicap, -0.5/+0.5
    Closing Line:
    ? (? odds value)

    Projected Score:
Aston Villa (2) over Swansea City (0)

    Insight:
I really think that Swansea City is getting too much respect of late because although they lost just once in last 5 EPL games, they also won only one game and are a very mediocre side. They're only 3 points behind their today opponents, however they've been struggling on the road and are newcomers, who'll definitely be fighting to avoid relegation at the end of the season. The odds may look like this because of recent 0-0 road draw against Newcastle United, though 'Magpies' are also overestimated, so I'm not taking it into account actually. On the other hand Aston Villa seems to be playing better right now, especially after Darren Bent return up-front. In last game they managed to beat Chelsea on the road (3-1) and though it might have been accidentally, momentum is surely with them in this contest. Also, with both Stoke and Newcastle in struggling mode, they're still in the contention for 7th place, which is their target without any doubt (expectations were high before the season in Birmingham). These odds are looking good and I think that 'The Villans' grab 3 points here.

    Pick:
    1 unit on Aston Villa (-0.5) (@-107 / @1.935 on Pinnacle)
    Result (?):
Aston Villa vs. Swansea City ?-? FT (? units)

Premier League selection on 1st January

    vs.

    Fulham FC vs. Arsenal London
Game Date: 2.1.2012, 12:30 pm ET
    Line: Asian Handicap, +0.25/-0.25
Closing Line: ? (? odds value)

Projected Score: Arsenal London (2) over Fulham FC (0)

Insight: Arsenal is in rock solid form at the moment, which isn't a common thing for top teams in EPL of late and they might catch up Top3 at the moment but they need 3 points here badly (especially that Chelsea is leading 1-0 in current game). Fulham improved recently but they're still mediocre, they couldn't even advance from an easy Europa League group, so I doubt they gain any points in this derby, even at Craven Cottage. Odds are great, it looks like Arsenal isn't getting any respect by the public, while I can't imagine them losing (while -0.25 is quite a safe option).

    Pick: 1 unit on
    Arsenal London (-0.25) (@-120 / @1.833 on Pinnacle)
    Result (?):
Fulham FC vs. Arsenal London ?-? FT (? units)

You said it yourself, it is a DERBY. Last 3 derbies at craven cottage: 1-0 fulham, 0-1 arsenal, 2-2 draw..

    BOL though, hope it cashes.

Of course, though it's not an important derby of London, while h2h ain't that important because teams are different through each season in soccer.

Wow, you got your facts quite wrong there. There is no "unimportant" derby in England, especially London. H2H is quite important in football(no soccer here ), even though the teams differ a lot..

Fulham have always played Arsenal at home tough, today was no exception. No shame in picking Arsenal before the game, but it's not a surprise how things turned out.

    Better luck next time
