If they really wanted to change things in TB, then my suggestion would be start from scratch and rebuild that organization from ground up all over again.
Devil Rays change name to Rays
ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) - The Devil has been exorcised in Tampa.
The Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Thursday announced a name change, dropping the Devil from the team.
They now will be known as the Tampa Bay Rays.
"Tampa Bay and the Sunshine State are beautiful places," said Stuart Sternberg, the team's principal owner. "We want the Rays to reflect the best our region has to offer."
The team also changed its logo and uniform colors from green to blue as it enters its second decade as a franchise.
A new image certainly cannot hurt. Since the franchise opened play in 1998, Tampa Bay never has won more than 70 games and finished last in the American League East Division in every season except 2004.
