-2.4u on posted Emmy plays. Unfortunate. There were some HUGE upsets with Canavale and Jeff Daniels.

not sure how the odds work, but "Skyler wont die" looks good, assuming basically even odds.

Seems like a huge mistake to me. There is no other security like btc that you can derive meaningful analysis from.

Unless you're extremely well bankrolled, completely risk averse, and have done some pretty advanced modeling work it looks like a spot to stay away from.

The current buyback looks like a dead cat bounce to me as the fervent bitcoin libertarians push on that this is a good thing for the sanctity of BTC (which it probably is).

What we do know is that Silk Road was a HUGE part of the overall BTC market, and even though new sites will rush in to fill the gap, many users will not be trusting again (and may already be under investigation).

Your average bitcoin miner and progressive investor is not going to want to adopt a hold strategy here, I would expect a further decline here.

I cap this theory at +130.

A year and a half ago I would have capped it at -1000.

This may be a logical approach, depends on how much media attention the bust gets in the mainstream.

A lot of it is dependent on whether or not they can get to DPR's personal wallet, so far as I can tell. He has something like 10% of all Bitcoins in circulation.

and yeah MD, I dont know why you're buying into a virtual crypto currency where the US government is going to be the biggest holder now. I would go into litecoin or something.

There's no EG or edge here. It's like my grandfather picking stocks, sure you might stumble into a winner now and then, but you haven't done the work to justify it.

Bitcoin is propped up by libertarian idealists who keep accumulating positions. One real scare and the whole thing can come tumbling down. It is (purposely) backed by nothing, no real value, and no credit-worthiness of a nation behind it.

The reason for the current price increase is all these bitcoins that are thought to be leaving the economy. There have now been a dozen or so arrests of large dealers all who have had bitcoins seized, in addition to the huge numbers that DPR had. What happens when these governments decide to firesale these coins all at once?

Unless you've done some real work in economics I can't see this as a time to accumulate a position. I haven't done any work either, I'm certainly not out there shorting it myself. I just wouldn't feel comfortable holding it at this time.
