    Bad Beat Jackpot Vent

2-5 spread limit game in Colorado. I have 56 of hearts. Raised 4 or 5 way for 20 pre. Flop is k 9 7 rainbow. Checks through. Turn is an 8 of clubs. 9 and eight are clubs. I'm in position. First guy bets 20, another guy calls, I make it 95. Lead better calls, the other guy who called the 20 mucks. River is 10 of clubs. Guy leads out for the limit. He's got 67 of clubs. The guy who folded had queen Jack of clubs. 250k bad beat jackpot should have gone down. Guy who folded is getting 4-1, wtf? Not to mention there's a high hand for $500 running. Table share would have been about $15k, 6-7 would have gotten about $100k. Wish I didn't raise. God damn. Wish he just made the proper call. He's a 2.8-1 dog there getting 4-1 with high end equity plus what should have been... Ugh.

Holy shit that's a big BBJP. What are the qualifiers, SF over SF?

Either way, playing for a jackpot is what the suckers do. Think of the bright side, you found your mark for the night in Mr. cold call 20 fold 75

Quads over quads. I knew I was ahead and wanted to charge draws. Obviously wish I just called but that would have been a bad poker play. It's just sick to have it go down like that. Guy had Sooo many chips too. He ****** up not calling. He cost himself over $50k.

Can you make a list of hands that just call preflop, check that flop, call your raise on the turn with a caller to act, then lead the river - that you can beat on a K,9,7,8,10 board with 3 clubs showing with 56h?

I might be out in Colorado in a couple months, where was this casino if you don't mind me asking. BBJ over 50,000:1 big bet makes me hard and is def something I'd travel for if it was sill that high. Tia

    Bosco,

The turn was basically all in for me and when I raised it to 95, the board read King, 9, 7, 8. I've got the third nut, only two clubs at this point, the 8 and the 9. I called off my last couple bucks after the 10 of clubs hit the river to complete the flush, the dangling Jack, etc, but the kid who lead the river and got there with his 67 of clubs had already took a shot at the pot after missing and I was getting the price and was pot committed. On the turn I knew I was good, I was protecting my straight as much as I could basically, and I was right. It's really bad luck to have queen Jack not call because the guy who lead out with his pair, sf draw on the turn, was in the pot. They both had bit stacks and he should have played the hand. If your short, why would you ever just call $20 there? You can't. Wish I folded obviously. I wish I folded the best hand and sat back and watched those two raise eachother five times on the river as the place erupted. I don't play poker thinking about helping bad beats gets there. And to much queen Jack of clubs with 89 of clubs out there and a straight already there, just plan silly. I'm pretty upset about it but I think the blame goes on the guy with queen Jack. You know what. The $20 donk bet into
The pot sucks too because I'm betting less when it checks to me and as long as he doesn't check raise, they're both along for the ride. Hoping to catch a gambling break one of these days. It's pathetic I know, but $15k would have improved my life greatly. Hard to accept the things that cannot be changed. The guy with the 67 was running around the building. If homie with $2k who mucked the top end had any balls, they get a huge hit.

    Sharp Angles,

You've got to rethink trump. I know Hillary sucks but come on man, you all have to know somewhere in you that he's no good for being president. Anyways homie, not like someone has ever changed anyone's mind about politics so that's a futile comment really. Okay, here's the scoop. Blackhawk is a gaming area that used to be a $5 max bet casino town along with its adjacent central city. A few years ago they passed a law to raise the max bet to $100 bucks. The $2/5-100 spread limit can be really good. You can win $2k in that game no problem. The 30-60 limit game is widely stated as probably the best 30-60 in the country. A huge Asian clientele from Denver that likes to gamble (some people like to bitch about some of them trapping or whatever- but in limit, bring it), lots of school of mines math guys that like to gamble from nearybe golden, a lot of weed money from guys that own stores or do something lucrative in the field that like to gamble, and then some regs that play good. The prices you get in the game are outrageous and you can make a lot of money in the game. It is a great game. Believe it's a $7 rake. Here's an example, I saw a guy five bet a turn heads up to $300 with a straight after the board paired. No good obviously but he wanted to spend some money. Ameristar is the only poker room worth playing in up there IMO. And the craziest thing about the 2-5 game is it's basically a strategy seminar where a lot of people honestly talk about everything they know about poker: what they would do there, why they didn't raise, what they thought you had, and on and on. Heartland Poker Tour has tournament that runs out of the Golden Gates. Check cardplayer.coms tournament schedule for that. 1-2-100 spreads around town but screw that. High take and just plays to small. Like anything it depends on whose playing, but it's usually just so good up there in the 2-5-100 game. It's like a limit game too really but it's better if your broke like me and need to see some cheap flops. A few weeks ago, however, a guy three bet to $300 pre for the rest of his chips, a good hand calls him and this guy who jammed it pre says, "I've got diamonds." Turns over Jack five of diamonds. He doesn't make diamonds, lol. I don't know if a single diamond flopped. He doesn't make anything. They typically have a $500 high hand promotion every two hours, sometimes a smaller jackpot is running with realistic qualifiers, and then the aforementioned quarter mill, of which there is a primary, secondary, and tertiary. All about $250k.

    http://www.ameristar.com/black-hawk/poker-room

$1 hour for food, I think you can gamble with half of that, keep in mind the $100 max if you play in the pit, cool rooftop pool, poker rate, 45 minutes from Denver I figure, 45 minutes from Boulder. Rooms go quick. Tons and tons of cops on the windy, dangerous road that gets up there. Beautifully situated in the mountains. Two ways in and out. One through Gilpin county that goes into Boulder (unreal beauty, especially right around now), and then a main way that goes towards the outskirts of golden where you jump on 76 then I-25 or I-70.

Get on up there and snap it off. I think you will like it. The dealers don't always know what they are talking about though. Had a dealer recently say a bet size didn't constant a raise, he was adamant, I called the floor, floor overruled dealer. Dealer didn't even act like he was mistaken. Some are good though, like anywhere.

If you know any good games nationwide besides the standard commerce, and Vegas stuff would love to hear. I prefer PLO, plo8, and limit 8 fwiw.

    Thanks

Hmmmm this describes Cali poker to a tee. Nice write up thanks man. Sounds like a fun room. Only spread games I've played were limit so the 5-100 spread makes more sense for such a large JP. I'm only familiar enough to give advice on SoCal and Vegas poker so can't help with other cities but anyone who can should speak up.

And Lol I can only assume you think my avatar is trumper but that's my man crush Vin Scully. I'm here to make money, not BS with politics.

I'm a dope. Didn't sleep last night and that is definitely Vin Scully. He's a fascinating character and a poet. I love the way he calls games.

Politics is BS. Many of the great thinkers of the past, guys like James Joyce knew it was bullshit back then and it still is today.

Let me know if you need anything else. I'm gonna keep up with the contest and stuff like that but definitely need to start keeping distance from gambling. Tilted off a $3k balance today and that situation yesterday, just kind of sums it up for me. I've wasted to much time and important life experiences to gamble instead. Sucks because I like it so much, but everytime I need something and have it lately, coupled with the massive had best tease yesterday is just massive evidence that it's time to move on.

    Best
