I'm taking a break from poker after donking away 1.5k in points last night at the ring tables when I kept thinking that there's no way the people I'm facing can continue to hit, while simultaneously thinking there's no way I can continue to miss every flop.

Didn't work out so well for me. After hitting only 3 of my last 20 flops I decided to call it quits. There's only so much bluffing one can do before people catch on (especially heads up) and they're willing to call you down with bottom pair or an A or K.

I'll play the free tournies, and I'll track how I lose here.

I wasn't ahead too often preflop in most of these, most are just massive coolers with pp's over pp's, AQ behind while shortstacked, or coin flips that I lost

Well, at least it wasn't $1,500. Quit trying to keep track of what flops you missed and hit. It's going to tilt you. Especially heads up. Some times you just run bad, but chances are he's not hitting every flop either. Try to pick up on some bet size tendencies and betting frequencies. I remember bluff catching StudMLB in a 3,000 point pot in with Ace high because he would always over jam his air bluffs. Bad leak to have...

Not trying to be critical, just trying to help. I've worked on tilt control quite a bit over the years and can tell you that keeping up with your losses probably isn't going to help you build your confidence back to get back on track. Start focusing on the positive

go play live, it'll restore your confidence......

let me guess, one of the players who you shipped a ton of chips to has a screenname that starts with "bite"?

Listen to the wise man Astro, dane is on point here.

And that other wise man donker is right as well that you don't want to use SBR poker as your confidence booster or skill gauge. Go play live and show yourself its a lot different when its real cash on the line.

I'm guilty of this thinking sometimes too, but this is a bankroll killer. Gotta view every single hand in a vacuum and not let someone else running good or bad influence decisions. Also need the discipline to recognize when its not your night or you're playing like sht, and gtfo of there.

and, astro, always remember that, when playing at sbr, if you are not skyping with an sbr employee, you are at one helluva disadvantage....

also, for shits and giggles, keep track of how many times in sessions you generally have your big blind automatically raised every f'n hand until you're dealt premium hole cards, and then -- almost miraculously -- the guy that had raised you 20 straight times just happens to fold to your AA or KK, amazingly having the insight to not even pay a buck from the small blind to limp into the hand........

then he goes back to 15 straight raises, and suddenly folds the small blind in that 1-2 game when QQ shows up in your hole....

this remains the strangest phenomenom I have witnessed in SBR ring games.........

How did I lose today? Well how about a 7 outer on the river from a guy willing to call off a third of his chips with a mediocre hand like KJ (but it was sooooooteD!). Note: I played about 3 hands up to this point, so Mannyfan must either really have a read on me and assume I'm bluffing from the 0 hands I've played or REAALLY like him some King high. Lost half my chips within first 5 hands when my A8 lost to A5 and my 55 lost to trip aces on the flop.

    To the hand!

    8/6: 77 (51.17%) v KcJc (48.35%)

    Turn: 6s (77 is now 84.09% fav)

Just a few hands earlier I lost around 40% of my stack with 66 against KQ. I mentioned that one of these days I will win a coin flip. Apparently today is not that day.

Though I did piss away most my chips in a hurry, had to listen to an annoying 1 year old scream his head off for 20 minutes straight and my patience ran very thin after losing with 66 to a K on the turn earlier.

Then the stupid brat shuts up 5 minutes after I'm out.

Who knows, it was playing and fell asleep, woke up and crying/screaming non-stop. Tried putting it down for a nap, feeding it, and everything else. Just kept screaming.

Oh, was a terrible play, but I needed a break away from screaming. With such high blinds and 6 per table I decided if I win then that gets it to the final table soon and I can sit out for a bit, if I lose I can sit out for a bit (instead of getting blinded away within 5 minutes of sitting out)

You'll never be a winner as long as something like your baby crying can steal your focus so easily.

Need to seriously rethink your priorities!

This pretty much sums up Sbr poker for me. I haven't taken it seriously in a long while. If you'd see my live cashes at Wsop and other places; you wouldn't even believe that I'm the same player on here. I have 4 Top 20 cashes in the wsop (only played in 8 wsop tourneys). That might not be saying alot, but I know poker. I play live cash games in Houston 3 times a week.

I have never seen anything more ridiculous in my life. How the same people, I'm not going to say any names. But, the same people continuously getting it in bad and continuously winning. I'm talking about hitting gutters, sometimes only having 3 outs and BAMMM! I only play it obviously because it's free and when I'm home it kills time and I enjoy poker. But, it's really hard to enjoy Sbr poker.

I don't let it affect my live play, but I'm a different player live than on here. You can't do the same shit on here that you can do in live poker. No fkin way, it's like people can see your cards on here or they know whats coming. It's sickening the shit I see on here. The only thing that makes it bearable is that it's free.

One of these penetrating days I will win a penetrating coin flip. After losing 50% of my stack when my QQ lost to 88 on a runner runner flush (which, wow, happens a shitload on SBR). I lose another coin flip to spacefrog. It's amazing how this guy's hands ALWAYS hold up, yet I can't win 80/20 hands at better than a 40% rate.

I have you beat today Astro.

I have about 20 BB and I'm sitting in MP in the daily tourney.
Old School gambler Jams all in UTG with about 25-30 BB.

I'm sitting looking at the pocket AA I was dealt. Naturally I jam all in. Action folds around and cards show. And what do you know? Old school gambler jammed with Pocket 88's UTG with 25-30 BB? HAHAHAHAHA

So, naturally I have him dominated and what do you know? Hit's an 8 on the flop.

I don't really care about anything other than the fact that I think he legitimately thought it was a good move to Jam UTG with 88 with a full table behind him. The skill level on this site never ceases to amaze me!!

    That is all.

Do you mark all the hands that you win as well or just when you lose? You obviously had to win some of them to get to 3500 in the above scenario with the AK.

Until tomorrow, when I plan on outdoing my 84% favorite going to the river by losing with a 95% favorite going there!

Am I missing something, how did you end up in a game with only 3 kings and 3 jacks in the deck?

Few words of advice. Stop playing A 8, nothing good ever comes of it.

I think we may have our new Emily Haines here boys.

Last night final table was brutal for me.
    7k in chips, 2nd place 9 left.

    QQ lost to A5 preflop.

    My next hand played.

    AK lost to AQ preflop.

    My next hand played.

    JQ loses to J10 preflop.

2 of the 3 players had a bit less than 2k so I was able to survive them. But I went down to 800 chips with blinds at 800. Got AA last second and tripled up to almost 3k and managed 5th by blinding out.

What are the odds of those 3 big favorites losing back-to-back-to-back?

Huh? I had 7's in this hand. Who is playing A8? The worst ace listed is A9 once, and AT a couple times. No idea where you're getting A8 from.

Also, I had the 7 of spades, which is why you think there's only 3 kings and 3 jacks. The king/jack/ten of spades would have given me a flush, thus they weren't outs.

Not hating the player or the game, hating the software. Seems like a decimal point is off somewhere. The odds of 4 to a flush on the board are 0.88%. So less than 1%, or less than 1 out of every 100 hands (113.6 hands to be exact). This, and many other scenarios (4 cards to a straight on board, for instance), occur way more often than they should.

5 cards on board in the same suit is a 0.0374% chance. So 2673.8:1 odds. I don't see 5 of the same suit on board EVERY tournament, but one out of every 3 tournaments isn't unheard of.

SOrry, should have specified. This is the hand where I was getting the A8 from.

And you are correct that I did not see the four spades in the previously mentioned hand. Carry on

Yes I did, I won the "rebuy*" on Sunday. The weekend tournaments tend to attract people that have some idea on how to play, so they're actually easier due to not having to worry as much that someone called off 40% of their stack, out of position, with 83 off. In the daily tournies they do this, and then chase down to the river for everything and end up hitting a straight due to runner runner. (at least that's what happens to me, I see the same people chase and miss consistently when in the hand against certain other players)

Also, I somehow got Aces 4 times and Kings twice.. to me surprise, they held up every time. It's pretty pathetic when I felt like I was lucky for not getting sucked out on when I was a 80%+ favorite each time the chips went in.

*The term rebuy is used as the name of the tournament which, of course, does not actually offer any rebuys as the name suggests nor has it been fixed in the month or more it's been complained about every Sunday.
