Phil Ivey on 60 minutes (sports) for those that missed it

Yeah, we know the edge sorting story (for the most part) BUT this is still worth a watch on various levels.
Don't worry about opening sequence; don't have to slog through anything it's just about Ivey.

Waiting for jj to come in and tells us all again how Ivey and everyone in pokerdom is broke and that the Rolls Royce is a rental.

Good interview, I hadn't seen that before.

What do you make of that, Biteme?

It's kind of hard to know what to make of it without hearing the other side of the story.

    Agreed.

I know both you and I have zero tolerance for cheats, but a key informational piece for me is the turn of the cards by the *DEALER*(willingly) that really unlocked the vault of the advantage play for Ivey; isn't it the casino's responsibility to have an above-reproach-top-of-the-line DEALER at this particular game w/ Ivey? Yeah, I think so. And who's responsibility is it to watch the dealer and how they're handling the game? Ah, yeah... we know that answer, too.

The casinos spend big bucks to not only safeguard the game, but plenty more $ to create an ambiance/layout to "advantage play" our money from US, the customer (i.e., ply us with free alcohol, no clocks, strategically placed table games/slots, comps, etc.).

Being (ethically) smarter then the other guy is not cheating.

Having said all that, I reserve final judgement because I'd like to see all the evidence on both sides to determine if the pre-conditions proffered by Ivey were indeed presented ethically and not under false pretenses.

ADDENDUM: I and others know parts of this have already been adjudicated in a court of law... just giving personal perspective.

That was a good watch. Man is that hard to form an opinion. Just because he made the requests does not mean the casino knew why he was doing it. I highly doubt the casino would've granted his requests if they knew. Cheaters don't tell you what they're doing before they do it. You catch them afterwards. With that being said, Ivey is the man!

Despite all your instigating, zach ended up apologizing to me after I revealed more things to him after you left.
Like I stated early on... SIGNAL CORPS... with my MOS having one of the longest AIT periods (1 year).
Can you discern all the things that means, pal?

Was recruited for the Navy nuclear sub program but didn't want to commit 6 years... so I committed 4 to the Army.
(At AIT was asked about interest in Officer School -- I had none.)

But lemme tell ya, if I had my M16 on me the other night... you woulda been in serious jeopardy for all your instigating shenanigans -- Remember, I know Pennsylvania pretty well, pal.

Can confirm signal corp has a long AIT and is competitive. Spent some time as a 25B (6 month AIT) after my infantry days. 25S was hard to get and around 12-15 months depending if you got a specialization such as a higher than TS clearance.

*edit not sure what signal corp series number was in Biters day of storming Normandy.

Getting back to the posted video, I think the only confusing part was why James Brown felt the need to bring up race during the interview? Was that somehow mentioned in the lawsuit against Phil? Hey we aint payin the colored folk or something

I tend to side with Phil as does my wife who watched this video as well. The only thing weird is they must feel they have some leg to stand on if they brought Phil to court over this so I think we may be missing something. Good posting Biter

Unfortunately for Ivey, he recently lost the Crockfords (London) case but some may think a bias existed there (not sure if he's appealing). Ivey said he was happy the judge noted he was an honest witness and this is one of Ivey's quotes:

“As I said in court, it is not my nature to cheat and I would never do anything to risk my reputation. I believe that what we did was a legitimate strategy and we did nothing more than exploit Crockfords’ failures to take proper steps to protect themselves against a player of my ability.”

Think the Borgata stuff is still slogging along in the system.

it's free rolling ...pure and simple. If Ivey walked out of the Borgata down 3 million dollars or if he walked out of the English casino down a million pounds the casinos would never have taken legal action against him nor would they be accusing him of anything. They lost, they're sore losers and they're trying to get their money back and apparently from what I've heard, 1 casino succeeded. Sick
Anyone who cheers for the casinos in this instance is sick too!

    Very cool interview... thanks Bite

When I first heard the story it seemed like Ivey cheated by knowing the dealers and marking cards.... after watching the video the blame's on the casinos. Don't allow special requests if you think you're losing your edge; that's just basic knowledge.
