WIZ. WT fltin` fukk man......answer the question... name one player available who would have helped the team more utilizing the money they had to spend.

They have plenty of money/flexibility to bring in the "fantom" star caliber player you refer to. Having Horford only makes Boston a bit more desirable.

Why would he go East to face LBJ when he goes to a 73 win team?? Sign of the times.

The problem i see with this celtics team is they don't attack the rim, they got big men like horford, olynyk, johnson and zeller. They should be pounding it down low but all those guys are perimeter oriented players so you got them all hanging out at the 3point line trying to shoot or drive. They have to shoot the lights out just to win games, if they had 1 or 2 post guys it would open things up for smart/bradley/thomas.

It's like he got legacy pay for his contributions in Atlanta... but from Boston.

Horford is cooked. He's 10 years in and he was never a great player to begin with. Like lakerboy said. Boston just signed him for the sake of making a signing.
These fukks are hurting the game. Not saying all the focus on numbers is bad but so many guys act like they can understand the game of basketball just staring at numbers instead of watching the damn games. Then they come out and tell you Kyle Korver should be MVP and this and that. Ugh.

All started in 2007-08 with the Memphis grizzlies when they featured zeebo the pot kingpin, rudy gay, an ascending Marc gasol and trick or treat tony allen using analytics to determine player value.

Daryl Morey adopted the strategy in Houston shortly after and now many teams have employed an analytics team of some sort

I forget the free agent list from last year. Would need to look at it but there's no doubt in my mind the money could have been spent better elsewhere. Giving $113M to a 30 year old player on the decline is never a good move unless his name is LeBron James.

But they're still better than Atlanta who got Dwight 'The Cursed One' Howard.

agreed the way he is playing and the way the celtics are utilizing him is basically what olynk does.

They don't have to spend on a FA. They could take some other team's bad contract off their books in return for something of value. For instance they could take on Faried's contract in order to pick up Nurkic -they could use an up & coming centre.

Btw, the minimum salary thing means you pay that amount. It doesn't mean you actually have to spend it -I think the difference goes to the NBA cake at the end of the season. Sixers have angered agents in recent years by not getting to the minimum, and that's likely why Hinkie got the axe.

Of course , they had options as you suggest. Still, haven`t heard any option that would have made them a better team.
Or a better destination for another FA. They are in a bit of a unique situation with all those upcoming picks.

Lets face it, over half the teams in the league suck and are not worthy of our time. IF LBJ was out West this whole time, the last 7 years the EAST probably would have had 7 different champs.

Horford MAX contract has been graded an A by all the mags/talking heads covering the league.

Would so much rather have him than DH.
