Chris Bosh done in Miami and possibly NBA

its crazy to think how that franchise has fallen apart since winning a couple titles, losing Lebron, Wade and Bosh. whos the leader on that team now. anyone think bosh will ever play in the nba again? or will he go overseas to play basketball? I don't think another nba team will clear him to play. maybe LeBron will get the cavs to clear him.

the intriguing thing is that if another nba team picks him up and clears him, his contract goes back onto the Miami heats books and salary cap. he is old, but dude still has the means to be a solid role player and score 10-15pts a game and grab 8 rebounds

I really feel for this guy. He still has a lot left. Worse what sidelined him is not from basketball.

The Miami Heat and Chris Bosh have reportedly agreed to terms on a resolution that will remove his contract off their books will freeing him to play elsewhere if he returns to the NBA.

Both the Sun-Sentinel and the Miami Herald had reported earlier this week that the two sides were working on an amicable agreement, and now sources have told ESPN today a deal has been reached, though it has yet to be finalized as “Bosh and his family, agents and lawyers are still reviewing documents.”

I'm calling BS on him not knowing anything was wrong when he signed in 14'.... conned Miami knowing they had to sign him after losing Lebrun... good for his family though. contract is insured so heat won't have to pick up the majority and he gets to collect checks without paying income tax... what a life

Glad the Rockets didn't get stuck with him. It looked like they got screwed initially when Bosh stayed with Miami.

Chris Bosh‘s salary will officially no longer count against the Heat’s salary cap going forward, with the team announcing today in a press release that Bosh has been waived. The move formally brings an end to Bosh’s seven-year stint with the franchise.

“Chris changed his life and basketball career when he came to Miami,” team president Pat Riley said in a statement. “And he changed our lives for the better, in a way we never would have imagined, when he joined the Miami Heat. We will forever be indebted to CB for how he changed this team and led us to four trips to the NBA Finals and two NBA Championships. He is, without a doubt, one of the greatest players in the history of the franchise.

“The number ‘1’ will never be worn by another player and we can’t wait to someday hang his jersey in the rafters,” Riley continued. “Today, we are both moving on but we wish Chris, Adrienne and their family nothing but the best. They will forever be part of the Miami Heat family.”

As we detailed last month when a doctor formally ruled Bosh’s blood-clot issues to be career-ending, he will no longer count against the Heat’s salary cap due to his medical retirement designation. That clears more than $52MM in total salary from the team’s books for the next two years, including $25.3MM+ in 2017/18. Miami will still have to pay Bosh his remaining salary, though the team should be able to recoup a significant chunk of that money via insurance.

It’s possible Bosh will attempt a comeback at some point, though NBA executives are skeptical about the odds of that. If his NBA career is officially over, Bosh will finish with averages of 19.2 PPG and 8.5 RPG over 893 total games with the Raptors and Heat (14 seasons, including 2016/17). Bosh was named to 11 All-Star teams and won two championships over the course of his career.

Former Miami Heat big man Chris Bosh thanked South Beach in an open letter written on his website, reflecting on the ride he had both with the franchise and the city itself.

“It was scary leaving Toronto, a place where people really loved and supported me, and I wasn’t sure if that great feeling would follow me,” wrote Bosh, referring to when he left the Toronto Raptors in favor of the Heat via free agency back in 2011. “When I arrived in Miami, I was just hoping for glory and mention amongst the immortals of basketball. What I got was so much more.”

Bosh not only won two championships and made it to four NBA Finals with Miami, but he also experienced the births of four of his five children during his time in Miami.

“I still vividly remember the day my son Jackson was born. We were in the playoffs against New York and we had just landed in the Big Apple late that afternoon. I got the call and immediately made a mad dash back to the plane. I arrived at the hospital with 30 minutes to spare and got to see my baby boy come to this earth.”

Bosh also thanked the community, saying that the fans embraced him from day one.

“Making you proud was a priority every time we stepped out on the court. It felt so good to share that championship feeling with you.”

Most importantly, Bosh felt he grew as a man in Miami as well.

“We went through life together, Miami,” he added. “You showed me how to stay strong and push through in the toughest moments. And although I didn’t like it at the time, it made all the difference in the long run. It made me a better man, the person I am today. Thank you.”
