Casino Question: Aria/ Las Vegas and Hard Rock Punta Cana

The misses and I are going to Las Vegas for New Years and also going to the bash in Punta Cana. Generally, I would just carry about 5k in cash and then just use the debit card if needed. However, I'm looking to take about 20k with us to Vegas and PC. I thought I saw where you could transfer cash to the casino ahead of time so they could hold it. Has anyone done this?

I don't want a line of credit, as I don't need it. I just want to see if I can transfer cash from my bank account to the casino so I don't have to carry 20-25k.

Yes. Call the casino cage and set up a wire transfer. You will be able to draw off the funds during your stay.

This... Most major banks are in Vegas. Wells Fargo, BkofAma, BBVA are all there. For Vegas, I recommend just going to the bank, versus going back and forth to the cage where you are going to be more apt to gamble it (been there, done that). And definitely don't get a line of credit where you start buying markers at the tables. I ran through $20k in a few hours one morning. I was just in Vegas 2 weeks ago and I usually bring cash with me and put it in the hotel safe. I also take 5 debit cards where I can pull $500 each per day ~ $2,500, which is my daily limit. I really recommend this. Figure out your daily loss limit and bring as many debit cards as necessary. Once you're tapped out, you're done for the day.

I would definitely wire the money outside of the USA ahead of time. You don't want to walk around with a lot of money in most of those countries. Make sure if you wire money in that you can wire money back out.

Yeah best to have the cash lined up ahead of time in Punta Cana. Using cards there at the cage had a hefty 7% to the house as I recall.

Because then you have to either go to the bank, venture off the strip to find a no fee atm or keep paying withdrawal fees off cards in casino which are a rip off. They charge you just so you can get your own money.
    Gtfoh.

A wire transfer is a breeze. Then you just have a front money account for the trip.

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I agree with you grits... If I need the money early in the morning, I don't want to have to walk down the strip. Also, my debit cards from wells fargo limits the amount I can withdraw in a day. Its so low its ridiculous. It may take a little extra time at the cage, but I can deal with that.

If you wire it in ahead of time all you will have to do is go to cage at beginning of trip and sign a few sheets of paper. Then hit the cage, tables or high limit slots to take out cash or chips when you want it.

You can't have a credit line with a FICO score of 406 jj. Cash up front for you.

The other thing everyone has failed to mention is: Amounts of cash in excess of $10,000.00 have to be declared or international flights.

The one other thing when in Punta Cana using an ATM Machine dispenses Dominican Pesos not US Dollars. (Ask Shari) then you have a bunch of pesos to convert.
