Yankees Lose Another Regular Player (Nathan Eovaldi)

    Not by trade this time:

Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi likely out until 2018 due to Tommy John surgery

Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi will have Tommy John surgery to repair the UCL and flexor tendon in his pitching arm, he told reporters Tuesday. The surgery will likely keep him out until 2018.

Eovaldi left his last start after just one inning and was placed on the disabled list. He had a 4.76 ERA and 1.307 WHIP in 24 games this season and allowed a career-high 23 home runs in 124 2/3 innings.

He was moved to the bullpen briefly earlier this season but returned to the rotation after three relief appearances.

Eovaldi will be a free agent after the 2017 season, making it unlikely the Yankees tender him a contract after this season.

The guy really didn't do much for the Yanks...for someone who could get it up there at 98 he was kind of disappointing

It seems as if Eovaldi has probably pitched his last game for the Yankees. Too bad they couldn't have traded him first.

Yankees are falling apart at the seams. So much talent and they can't win. Girardi has to be held accountable.

Those guys are real test cases...Kris Medlen for the Royals is another guy and it's been two years since his second TJ surgery and he's still trying to work his way back. They thought it would be 16-18 months, but when you're working back into game shape they run into arm fatigue, stiffness, etc and add another few months
