It's not a bad job anymore. The dark cloud that was Bryant, is gone. They have Clarkson/ Russell/ Randle + in all likelihood 1 of Simmons/ Ingram/ Bender. Add a centre to that group via FA in a year or two and they'll be back in the mix.

Don't confuse this with the Knicks job, this job isn't paradise (ownership), but it's got legs.

If Kevin Ollie can deliver Durant they'll hire him.

If not it'll be Walton. The typical dumb Buss children decision.

The colleges are making so much money today that it's
difficult to lure quality coaches away from the NCAA.
Look at the biggest names, they don't leave for the NBA
because they can make just as much money in college,
with better job security and more oversight with the players.

The only answer is to turn former NBA players into head coaches.
The Lakers are all about Hollywood so may as well put Shaq or some
other NBA celebrity in charge of all basketball operations.
if he would even take the job.

Durant is a strange fruit. He spent the early part of his career going above and beyond to present himself as a goody-two-shoes. Then he saw the Lebron James Decision drama and got jealous of it. Now bashing media types ala Westbrook and picking up flagrant fouls. But I think he'll choose between OKC & Oakland.

Well... honestly.... I don't even know if the Lakers would dig deep financially to get the right coach?

They have a LONG LONG LONG TIME before you'll see any consistency.

The Western Conference is the hardest one....

At least 3 full seasons before the Lakers make the playoffs again.

If Kevin Durant goes to Golden State, he will go down as the biggest pussy of all time.
