    Buddy Hield...

How did this guy get to his senior season?

Did he suddenly blossom this year or something?

He seems pretty legit. He kind of reminds me of Reggie Miller.

I can't believe most mock drafts have him going around #10.

Are there really nine players better?

Worked hard to turn himself into a great player. He's a scorer. He's not some freak athlete.

He has a silky smooth jumpshot and a quick first step. The issue at the next level is that quick first step isn't quite so quick anymore. He'll have some trouble getting shots off against NBA competition but I still like him. Anytime you can shoot that well you have a chance to succeed in the NBA.

He has gotten better every year, raised his scoring average nearly eight points this year from his junior season.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought his first step wasn't too bad, but I don't claim to be an NBA scout. I'm just shocked a player like this can make it to their senior season. Almost unheard of these days.

Yea it's unusual but he wasn't highly touted. Could've left after last year but his stock is much higher now so he made the right move.

Kris Dunn also stayed for his senior year. He's a bit different. He was a top prospect coming out of high school. He'll end up going somewhere in the top 10 for sure, probably ahead of Hield.

How did Curry get to his Junior year? I saw him play as a freshman and marveled how well he shot the ball. He was one of the best shooters I've ever seen back then.

Hield reminds me of Curry in that every time they shoot the ball, I expect it to go in. I'd take him with a high pick for sure.

My guess is size is a factor.

A few inches bigger with the same game and he's probably be a definite top 5.

Curry didn't get any offers from major teams. He was all state, all conference, led his team to 3 conference titles and 3 state playoffs and his father Dell's alma mater Virginia Tech told him he could walk on. I am always amazed how bad people are at evaluating talent.

That's right, Kris Dunn another senior. They really are a dying breed.

Hield looks a lot bigger, but I can see some similarities with Curry. Both are silky smooth with a quick release.

I always thought Steve Smith was a bit of an underachiever. His announcing isn't too bad though.

Played pickup in 33 degree weather today.

Decent court a block from my place. They used it in a Bank of Montreal commercial.

Everyone goes to states to play any spot other than Hackey. Canadian college sports are a joke because if you are any good you go to states.

    Sad reality.

My alma mater / school at which I am currently doing a graduate degree is 15-45 in basketball over last three seasons

In football they had a 49 game losing streak in the early 2000s

Mo, sounds like you could be the biggest stud to ever graduate from your alma mater.

    Is that a fair assessment?

no, though he doesn't play much defense and could improve his handle.

draft is barely 3-4 deep and there's a significant drop off after top 2 (who aren't locks as franchise builders either).

hopefully Lakers don't get the #3 ping pong. if that happens, i would've rather had them fall to #4 and miss the draft entirely so they could've at least keep their 1st rounder for 2017.

Yeah, landing in the number three slot might not be beneficial.

I'm not even sure I trust Ingram. The guy has got major stoner's eyes. Ben Simmons is ready take the torch from Kobe. Too much upside, his game will translate better in the pros.

Last year the draft was more deep and he had room to grow. He made a smart decision for once. With the draft being so low this year he knew he could not lose any stock. Now he will be top three at least.
