Dirtbag in deadly Hamptons DUI nabbed in bid to flee America

What a crazy world we live in...killing your own friend and then dumping his body on the side of the fkng road

The despicable millionaire developer accused of drunkenly crashing his Porsche in the Hamptons and then dumping his passenger’s dead body on the side of the road sank even lower — by trying to buy a boat to flee to South America, authorities said Wednesday.
Sean Ludwick — who allegedly tossed his victim’s wallet into the woods to try to cover up the crime — was busted at his Sag Harbor home Tuesday night on a bench warrant, *after authorities were tipped off that he was taking sailing lessons and trying to buy a boat in Puerto Rico, sources said.
A part-time sailing instructor in San Juan, who either works or worked for the FBI, ratted out Ludwick upon learning of the vehicular-homicide charges pending against him for the Aug. 30 death of Paul Hansen, according to a source briefed on the case.
“He picked up a weird vibe off him and did a background check and notified the [Suffolk] DA’s Office,” the source said.
Hansen’s widow, Catherine, posted an angry message on Facebook after learning of Ludwick’s bust, saying: “You can run but you will be caught. A–hole.”
During a Wednesday morning hearing, acting Suffolk County Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho — who signed the arrest warrant last week — ordered Ludwick held without bail pending a court appearance next Tuesday.
The judge said that in addition to learning of the sailing lessons, he had information that Ludwick had been trying to buy “a vessel outfitted with the navigational equipment necessary to travel to South America,” said Robert Clifford of the Suffolk DA’s Office.
Ludwick had been free on $1 million bond, although his passport had been confiscated, meaning he couldn’t fly out of the US or Puerto Rico.

A source on the island told The Post that Ludwick took a lesson at the Y Sailing School in San Juan on Thursday, and also inquired about purchasing a French-made Beneteau Oceanis sailboat that’s on the market for $415,000.
“It’s a great boat. It has everything that you would need to do around-the-world sailing,” the source said.
Ludwick “was offering less money but willing to pay cash for it,” the source said. “I think he wanted to lowball it for $350,000 or something.”
“He was supposed to come this week to see the boat, but obviously he never made it,” the source said.
Ludwick also earned a reputation as an obnoxious, overbearing jerk during his island getaway.
Ludwick arranged his sailing lesson through the front desk at the nearby Vanderbilt hotel, where “he wasn’t very loved” during his stay, according to a worker at Y Sailing.
“The concierge person . . . basically said, ‘This guy is an a–hole, and you should charge him as much as you can.’ She told us that in Spanish and then put him on the phone,” the worker said.
Ludwick also pitched a fit when the car that the sailing school sent to pick him up arrived 18 minutes late, griping, “I don’t know how you guys in Puerto Rico do business down here.”
Ludwick is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and 12 other counts in the death of Hansen, 53, a Douglas Elliman broker who was *fatally injured when Ludwick lost control of his 2013 Porsche and plowed into a utility pole on a curve near Hansen’s Sag Harbor home.
Hansen’s older brother, Bob, told The Post on Wednesday: “He clearly has no remorse and continues to do anything he can to try to spare himself from the consequences of his actions.”
Ludwick’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, and his bail bondsman, Ira Judelson, both declined to comment.
