LOL at gambling all week to finish the week +220

Laughable. And at the end of the week you feel like a shmuk.

Being a couch potato all week, looking at scores, lines, monitoring live lines, capping games, looking at stats, history, line movements,

and you end the week ahead 220.

    And its nothing new.

Some weeks you dont even win, you lose.

And the weeks you lose, usually its for more than you win.

It just makes you realize our time is worth more than this. Theres more to life than this.

But yet we keep going. All the while thinking, this week Im really gonna focus, this week Im gonna hit it really big.

And part of you feels guilty for choosing this way of life. For turning your back on society and becoming a renegade.

    But something keeps us going.

As we close the curtains on yet another week of gambling I ask you gentlemen what is it that keeps you going and how can we feel better about ourselves by increasing our productivity and the value of our time?

    God Bless you all

I'm glad that it's an extra income/entertainment kind of thing for me. It helps that I enjoy handicapping games on my down time and laying out my plays for the week...but it doesn't beat working full time at a great company. I'll take the steady income over the roller coaster ride of uncertainty that professional gambling is any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

It's fun winning though. Hearing "Schaffer, who do you like tonight?" really boosts the ol' ego. I live for runs like the massive one I'm currently experiencing. It just makes life better: your food tastes better, that cold one is more refreshing, your girl is sexier, and you kick ass at work when you know you've got a check withdrawal on the way. I chase that feeling and I'd say that's what keeps me in the game.

There is no better rush than putting a giant bet in and then rooting it in. I'm a lifer.

Amen to that. I'm a lifer. I can walk away whenever I want, but there is something special about buying something with book money at the end of a winning week.

Its an insane roller coaster, sometimes you feel like its easy and you got it all figured out.

How about you start only playing your best picks? You're like dufus who walks into a casino plays blackjack, is up 500% then keeps playing only to barely break even and complains about it....Learn to play your best hands and walk away from the game FFS

Its a sickness really. To me its at a point where I dont even care about the money, win or lose its all about the RUSH. Its a drug for me at this point in my career.

I need to wager more and more to get that same FEELING, you know? Doesnt really matter win or lose, and to be honest sometimes I like losing more, makes you feel alive its fcked up to say that.

In the end you cant really win unless you ONLY check final box scores, not even quarter or period scores. The swings and volatility in sports are too much. You feel the tough loses more than the miracle wins. Yet you convince yourself that you are always on the wrong side of bad beats.

For instance I had a NJ/Mon OVER 5 last night and somehow covered with 10 mins left in 1-0 game, forgot it soon after. Had I lost that would have been raging hard for hrs and into the next morning. You just gotta realize its all part of the chaos that it sports, check final scores or lose your mind in the end, but thats why we do this for the thrill and rush of watching a game and riding the wave

Ive become a sick fkn guy doing this for 8+ years now, made alot of money but its an empty feeling. Wouldnt recommended this career route to anyone if guaranteed to profit, just not worth the stress

Treat gambling as a hobby and you'll be fine - you gamble because you love watching/playing sports...when you notice that you're starting to like gambling more than the actual sports - you have a problem.

You're up for a week and that's all that matters.

Even if it's just a dollar...most likely you still did better, than most of the recreational gamblers.

I know exactly what you mean.
I do my 9 to 5 thing, a job I like to do by the way, for my income, I'm guaranteed a payoff every Thursday with the benefits and all, that's what I do for my money.

I wager money to beat the line, if I'm getting +135 on what I think is an even up wager, and win, I get off on beating the number more than the 100 or 200 dollar payoff.

Oh sure money is nice, that's not what drives me, the challenge does.

It's not a lie if you belive it's not a lie.

NCAA hoops always suck in early December after the tourneys wrap up.
We up here get stuck with dogs like UConn vs Sacred Heart where the line is 24.5 and you have to flip a coin to bet the game, heads lay the 24.5, tails take the 24 plus points and hope Ollie puts in the second string and Sacred Heart only loses by 18.

Or we get the LIU's that are fun to watch later in the year because they put up 83 points a game every season, but could care less in December, or the Yale vs. Bucknell snooze fests......

NCAA doesn't become good until the Virgina / Duke conference game in January or the Michigan / Wisonsin league games.

Good point, when the marquis game tonight is Rutgers and Wake Forest in that gym in New Jersey, it's time to explore other wagering options.

Ok + 220 - tell me what you average? To spend the time you are talking about - can understand you have a deflated feeling. Did you have some shots that you came close on. I had a nickel middle shot last night on the Pats - 3 1/2 and Broncos + 6 1/2 that I got set up live and had it late in the fourth quarter - all the Pats have to do was slug out a couple of first downs or hold the Broncos on defense. So, I know the feeling. But, some of them do come in - some that a person can get lucky on.

But, maybe, record keeping would help you identify where you are consistently good at? Bet types, maybe even the sportsbook you win at all the time. Something, to bring up your daily average??? I don't know - worrying about the money too much can give a person the yips and then it is possible to be too risk averse.

Most of you guys are looking at this in a incorrect manner...

OP if you weren't gambling what would you be doing?? Spending money right??

Ok, so you got ALL that entertainment over how many days and you still can say you made money??

On a $ per hour ratio you actually made money during your entertainment/leisure time??

Even if you lost a little it still would've probably been less than going out somewhere and spending your dollars on clothing, movies etc...

    Think about it...

The only time it wouldnt work in your favour is if you were completely buried over a weekend etc... Otherwise on a dollar per hour ratio find something thats as entertaining for the price you pay?

Even if i ended up even over a weekend i can still say i had several hours of entertainment that didnt really cost me a thing...

    Tell me thats not +EV
