A first-time tilt in MLB postseason

The Cubs and Cardinals have played a total of 2,363 regular-season games all-time, but they have never faced each other in the postseason.

    that's insane

Bizarre. One of the best rivalries. Here we go. Game 1 is really key.

Didn't you just make a super confident play on the Pirates? You obviously don't have the games pegged. Cards in 5.

And d2bets absolutely man, the series going to be so fun and intense. Super excited.

Yes it will be. St. Louis announced Lackey. And Lester is obvious. Former mates there.

at this point we are healthy, holliday, adams, piscotty are all good, wainwright is good but won't start... our only hurt guy is molina, and cruz has been filling in fantastically so far.

Unless Arrieta pitches 2 games in this series, the Cubs are doomed.

exactly why i was hoping cubs would win this game. let arrieta take game 3 and we can waste lynn on that game, then take the rest.

Cubs vs. Mets in the NLCS.

I honestly would not be surprised if the Cubs sweep Cardinals in 3. Mets in 5.

Heck I like Astros over Royals too, I think Toronto will be only series favorite to advance.

Cubs swept Mets 7-0 this year. I think Dodgers will win that series though. Cubs/Dodgers pitching matchups will be legendary.

I'm a believer in the CUBS now. What is the best future for CUBS to win WS and NL?

Everywhere Maddon goes... that team plays brilliantly.

Dodgers have best 1-2 starters in majors by far but Mets have deeper rotation and better bullpen. As long as deGrom and Sydergaard keep Mets in the game vs. Kershaw/Greinke until bullpens get involved, Mets should be fine. And Game 3 should be a mismatch with Harvey at home. If both teams go four deep, I'd like Colon over Wood too, but doubt both teams will use fourth starters.

Still a decent chance that Matz is on the bump for game 4; he threw a side session and a bullpen this week with zero issues. If he gets through tomorrow's instructional league start without any hiccups he'll end up on the NLDS roster.

I like it, especially since price on Kershaw in Game 1 is actually dropping.

He won as a coach in Anaheim. He went to WS with Tampa and won 2x manager of year. Now Chicago. That's where he's been.

So he has won nothing as a manager? The world series win is the only thing that matters. I think he can win with cubs.

I get it. But he only had 1 stint with Tampa, and for what they had, it was rather successful. Everyone knows he's a winner and a super manager.

Maddon is the best manager in baseball, he always gets max production from limited talent. And now he actually has talent.
