Are the Washington Nationals the biggest underachievers of all-time?

On the verge of another catastrophic meltdown.

Matt Williams is a dead man walking.

So are the Blues in hockey. Perennial playoff threat, yet 0 championships. Been around since 1967. Made the cup final first 3 seasons the franchise existed and promptly got destroyed all 3 times by original 6 teams. Never been back to the cup final since but had a 25 consecutive season playoff appearance streak and have won the president's trophy and division several times. Talk about chokers, they always lose in the first or second round of playoffs no matter how good their team is. Having said that ain't nobody got nothing on the Cubs when it comes to choking. They'll find a way to screw it up again this season since they are on pace for a playoff appearance. To put the Cubs in perspective there are kids in Chicago right now that have never seen the Cubs win the World Series and those kids' parents didn't either and neither did their parents(the kids' grandparents). Yikes!

I feel your pain. At least OU won a NC in 2000. Thanks god for Wienke and the FSU Noles Final score 13-2, OU scored all 15 points in the game. Granted they had a great, great D but they had a QB that threw the lamest wounded duck spiral I've ever seen in college football, especially for a starting QB that has a NC ring. Little Q Griffin at running back What a year.

Since then, it's been high expectations nearly every year and they fail, every year.

    I feel your pain bro

As a diehard Nats fan since DC got a baseball team back, yes this really sucks...bigtyme!...damn, it's depressing...from what I'm hearing, Rizzo is still going to stick with Matt Williams as manager...call me crazy, naive, gullible, etc. but first thing I'm doing with this talent laden lineup as soon as the season ends is firing Williams, then giving a call to either Joe Torre or Tony LaRussa...tell me those two former stud managers with all their championships, experience, and pedigree wouldn't be foaming at da' mouff for a chance to manage this team!...

I don't know how they continue with Matt Williams for even 1 more second. To put Storen back in there after he gave up endless runs last night, in a tie game, in the 8th inning is the dumbest thing I've seen in awhile.

I can't believe he went to Storen again.

    Is their bullpen that depleted?

Matt Williams might as well stay at home on the next road trip.

I would Put the 89 and 90 Oakland As Teams right there. The Braves teams of the Early 90-s could be there to great pitching and team and could only win a shortened 95 strike year.

they have no one outside of harper that can hit the ball on a consistent basis. They were exactly what the mets were but the mets were smart enough to fix that at the deadline

The St. Louis Cardinals have had a plethora of injuries this season and are still the best team in baseball and on pace for 100 wins. Matt Holliday(LF) and Matt Adams(1B), two of their most productive hitters especially when it comes to power and driving in runs, have been out the majority of the season with quad injuries, Holliday had the same injury twice this season. Carpenter(3B) has been out of and on with a mysterious fatigue illness. Wong(2B) is currently out with a bad ankle. Jay(CF) has been out with a wrist injury. Grichuk(OF) has been out with an elbow injury. Garcia(SP) their best pitcher when it comes to ERA, wasn't in the rotation to start the season recovering from a bad shoulder and missed several starts in the middle of the season with a groin injury. The setup man they acquired in the off-season Walden, I don't think even pitched this year or if he did, it was only a couple games in April before he blew his shoulder out. Oh and I almost forgot, their ace Wainwright(SP) hasn't pitched since April with a torn achilles tendon. They also tragically lost their starting RF, Taveras in the off-season in a car wreck, that killed him. Sounds like the Nats had too many excuses, cause I doubt they had more significant injuries than the Cardinals did this year, who are still on pace to win their division and have the best overall record in MLB no less.
