    Last 15 starts:

He's great. But, Greinke might have something to say about that, and Kershaw. I think they are rated in the top three at the moment. Greinke's ERA is unreal. Kershaw might get 300 K's, and if he wins out, man it will be tough on Cy Young award this year. Jake is in there for sure.

Jake The Snake keeps on rolling on. 8 innings of 1 run ball. Now 16 straight quality starts. And he hasn't allowed more than 4 earned runs in a game OR gone fewer than 5 innings in any game all season long.

Win #19 -- two ahead of the next closest.

We need to treat Dodger pitchers like Colorado hitters. There is such a huge advantage pitching in Chavez ravine.

    Right. Let's compare home/road split ERA's:
    Kershaw: 1.41 home/ 2.82 road (4-4 record)
    Greinke: 1.41 home/1.99 road (8-2 record)
    Arrieta: 2.33 home/ 1.72 road (12-1 record)

So Arrieta has been the best ROAD pitcher. Imagine if Arrieta pitched half his games at Chavez Ravine. How many more no hitters would he have?

As of today, I think Arrieta has to be the Cy Young winner.

I will agree with you based on stats. But, we would need to really need to dig into the stats for strength of opponents - it is possible that he has pitched against lessor opponents during this small sample size of 8 games?

Are you talking Kershaw? He's made 15 road starts (7 no decisions).

Would this still be up for debate?

Arrieta might be on the best pitching run in modern history. Never seen anything like what he's doing now.

His ERA in 10 starts in August/September is 0.477. That's FOUR earned runs. In TEN starts. In 75.3 innings. And now he's pitched 8 or 9 innings in 5 straight September starts.

The Wild Card game is gonna be fun. Arrieta doesn't seem human.

    Last 11 starts (all wins):
    81.1 innings
    4 earned runs
    39 hits
    14 walks
    82 strikeouts
    0.44 ERA
    0.65 WHIP

tons of really good pitchers in baseball
but right now he is the only one im confident that can pitch
into the 8th inning without giving up a single earned run every start he makes
cant think of a pitcher im more confident in right now
If Cole and Arrieta pitch in that WC game
Cole is going to pitch a no hitter and lose 1-0 to JakeThaSnake

unbelievable career turnaround...I was reading an article about a month ago and it said he was constantly tinkering with his delivery and release point throughout his career and he has obviously figured it out.
